Ways to Adjust Display on Windows 10
- Use Ease of Access to make everything on your screen bigger.
- Use the Magnifier tool to temporarily zoom in on part of your screen.
- Use your keyboard and mouse to zoom in or out on webpages.
- Use Ease of Access to make just the text on your computer bigger.
Steps
-
Open Settings. To do this, click on the start button and choose the settings gear.
-
Click Ease of Access. It is the tenth option on the list.Advertisement
-
Click Display. It is the first item under the "Vision" header.
-
Click the dropdown under "Make everything bigger." You might have to scroll down to find an option called Make everything bigger that says "Change the size of apps and text on the main display".
- Clicking the dropdown button will bring up two more options.
-
Choose how much you want to increase the size. By default, it will be set to 100%, but you may set it to 125% or 150%.
- Decide how you want to set it, and click on it. This will save your adjustments.
-
Press ⊞ Win++. This will open up the Magnifier tool. The Magnifier tool is an app built in to Windows 10 that allows you to easily zoom in on your screen.
-
Press ⊞ Win++ again to zoom in. Alternatively, you can click the + button in the Magnifier toolbar.
- You can keep pressing ⊞ Win++ to zoom in more on the screen.
-
Use your cursor to move around the screen. Move your cursor to the sides, top, or bottom of your screen to move around the zoomed in screen.
-
Press ⊞ Win+- to zoom out. Alternatively, you can click the - button in the Magnifier toolbar.[1]
- You can only zoom out to your screen's normal display. You can't make the screen smaller than 100% by clicking the - button.
- To close out of the Magnifier tool, click the X button in the upper-right corner of the Magnifier window.
-
Navigate to a webpage you want to zoom in on. You can easily zoom in on just the contents of your internet browser with this method. This could be a webpage, but it can also be anything you open up in your browser, including a direct URL to an image or a PDF saved on your computer.
-
Press and hold Ctrl on your keyboard. You can press and hold either the left or right Ctrl button, whichever is most comfortable for you.
-
Scroll up or down on your mouse wheel. If you scroll up, you'll zoom in. If you scroll down, you'll zoom out.
- Unlike the Magnifier tool, you can use this method to make the contents of your web browser smaller. However, be aware that changing the display size of your web browser contents can make websites difficult to use, and the UI of the site might look a little strange.
-
Open Settings. To do this, click on the start button and choose the settings gear.
-
Click Ease of Access. It is the tenth option on the list.
-
Click Display. It is the first item under Vision.
-
Adjust the slider. By default, it will be set to 100%, but you can increase it up to 225% as per your needs. View the preview of Sample text to make sure it is what you need.
-
Click Apply. This will save your adjustments. You might see a Please wait... screen for a few seconds, but don't worry, your computer didn't restart! What was previously open on your screen will come back in larger font.[2]
- Remember, this method only changes the text size. Icons, taskbar, etc. will remain as is.
