Advice for guys with wide hips
To widen your shoulders so you can balance out wide hips, you actually want to be working mostly on the back. Having a wider upper back will give you that illusion of having broader shoulders. So working the lats should be your primary focus. You can do that by doing lat pull downs, pull ups, dumbbell rows, and barbell rows.

Then of course, you want to work your shoulders as well, especially the middle and rear shoulder muscles. The best ways to work your shoulders are doing dumbbell lateral raises, reverse flyes and face pulls.
