Favorite Piece of Advice

Toy collecting brings about a unique child-like joy. If you're interested in getting into toy collecting, take it slow and cherish each item you collect. It's easy to get caught up in the consumerism of the hobby and lose sight of the simple joys of collecting.

What are some good collectible stores?
If you’re looking for Smiskeys or Sonny Angel, I’d recommend Kinokuniya, which is a Japanese bookstore. If you're more into blind boxes, then I would recommend Miniso. You can find a lot of Asian art toys there, including Labubus. GameStop is also everywhere and sells way more toys and collectibles than even games at this point, so I’d check out your local GameStop.
How to safely clean a labubu?
I have a funny story, actually! I was in Japan one time, and I brought a Labubu with me. I had a teriyaki skewer, and I actually got teriyaki sauce all over my Labubu, and I didn't notice until 20 minutes later. So it was drenched in teriyaki sauce.

I was able to get it clean with just warm water and soap, though, nothing harsh. I’d say don’t put it in the washing machine because it has a vinyl face that you don’t want to ruin, and there’s stuffing inside that may get soaked and not dry completely.
Is Labubu a girl or boy?
Labubu is a girl, and that is confirmed by the creator. Labubu comes from a children's book called The Monsters, created by Kasing Lung, and it's a whole lore of different characters. But yes, she is a girl.
Why are Labubu dolls so popular?
I think there was some popularity when they first got released in 2023, but it was more of a niche audience. It really took off when the K-pop star, Lisa from Blackpink, was photographed having a Labubu. She's a really big star, so everyone wanted to follow that trend. And I think it became a viral moment.

They're still popular today, but the demand has definitely died down some. You can easily get a Labubu directly from Pop Mart these days, whereas not even a year ago, it was really hard to get it from the retail or from Pop Mart itself.
Where to buy Labubu clothes
I feel like people have been making their own Labubu clothes everywhere. You can get some on Etsy, handmade or crocheted things. There are also a lot of art toy stores that have some. At my mall, there are a couple of stores or kiosks where you can buy little clothes that would work for Labubus, too. Another online store I know of is called Art Toy Familia, or Kika Goods, and eBay may have some, too.
