  1. Chris Hemsworth’s haircut in the Marvel filmThor: Ragnarok is iconic. Not only did it symbolize an in-film transformation, but it also showed viewers how well Hemsworth rocks short hair. In the film, he sports a textured crop with faded sides, making for a sharp contrast that completely juxtaposes the long locks he was known for in the previous films.[1]
    • How to Ask for this Style: Ask your barber for a textured crop with a mid fade on the sides.
    • Maintenance Tips: Get regular trims. To keep your cut looking its best, “I definitely recommend getting [your] hair maintained every four to six weeks,” says professional hair stylist & makeup artist Janet Miranda.[2]
  2. TheExtraction film gave way to one of Chris Hemsworth’s best haircuts, showing once again how well he rocks short hair. In the film, Hemsworth sports a short crop with a slightly longer top. Some of the hair on top drapes over his forehead, helping give the cut some extra definition. The short, sharply cropped sides and back also make for a great contrast with the longer top.[3]
    • How to Ask for this Style: Ask for the sides and back to be cropped using a #2 guard. Request that your barber keep the top long while creating a messy, textured fringe.
    • Maintenance Tips: Get a regular trim and crop every 4-6 weeks.

  3. Chris Hemsworth’s long hair is a staple as far as his hairstyles go, as he rocked it for a majority of the Thor films. Thor is known for his long hair, so of course, Hemsworth grew his own hair out for the role. The long hair goes just past the shoulders and is slightly slicked back at the forehead.[4]
    • How to Ask for this Style: Grow your hair out about 3-4 in (7.62-10.16 cm) past your shoulders, then ask your barber to trim the ends.
    • Maintenance Tips: Wash and condition your hair every 2-3 days (this may vary depending on how much oil your hair produces).
  4. Hemsworth’s haircut in Avengers: Endgame reflected Thor’s anger and grief for not being able to kill Thanos before he snapped away half the universe. As a result, Thor grows his long hair back during a depressive episode and doesn’t groom it, resulting in long, knotted hair that goes past his shoulders.[5]
    • How to Get this Style: Grow your hair out about 3-4 in (7.62-10.16 in) past the shoulders. Once it grows out, head to a stylist and get two sections on the edge locked into dreadlocks. When you wash, let your hair air dry.
  5. Earlier in his career, Chris Hemsworth rocked a textured medium-length style that stopped just above his shoulders. Parted at the middle, this style is a more casual, laid-back look that’s great if you have curly or wavy hair.[6]
    • How to Ask for this Style: Grow your hair to shoulder length, then ask your barber to cut long layers with built-in texture.
    • Maintenance Tips: Wash and condition every two days. Get trims whenever you notice the hair growing past your shoulders.
    • Consider using sea salt spray or texturizing paste to bring out the shape and texture.
  6. The slicked back cut shows Chris Hemsworth’s range, as he’s able to effortlessly shift from casual to elegant with this style. Before cutting his hair and going with the short look, Hemsworth was always seen rocking this style at formal events, like press tours and movie premieres.[7]
    • How to Get this Style: Grow your hair to just above shoulder length. Then, apply hair gel to your hair as you slick it towards the back of your head using your hands.
    • Maintenance Tips: Wash and condition every 2 days.
    • If the style doesn’t stay in place, don’t be afraid to apply some more gel.
  7. When Hemsworth rocked the tight fade, it was like he was making a statement on how dapper he was. Hemsworth’s tight fade was high, blending with his beard stubble to help contrast his bottom half with the short, styled top. The blend of the fade and the beard is essential here, as it helps show off his jawline (and can help do the same for you, as well).
    • How to Ask for this Style: Ask for a tight fade while keeping the top long. Then, have your barber apply gel to slick the top fringe back on itself.
    • Maintenance Tips: Get a fade every 2 weeks. Get a trim every 4-8 weeks.
  8. In theSpiderhead film, Chris Hemsworth has a clean, precise look that matches his character’s calculated, cold demeanor. Like many of Hemsworth’s short haircuts, this one features a fade on the sides. The fade is low, which contrasts with the combover on the top. This makes for a polished look that’s perfect for his character.
    • How to Ask for this Style: Ask for a low fade on the sides and a combover on top.
    • Maintenance Tips: Get a fade every 2 weeks. Get a trim every 4-6 weeks.
  9. Believe it or not, Chris Hemsworth hasn’t always had long hair. Before his role as Thor, he appeared in the movieMen in Black, sporting short hair. The top was neatly parted on the side, making a distinct separation between the longer hair on top and the high, short fade on the sides. The top was also brushed back, making for a look that paired well with stylish suits and formal attire.
    • How to Ask for this Style: Ask for a high fade on the sides that stops at the side part of your hair. Then, ask your barber to brush back the hair on top of your head.
    • Maintenance Tips: Get regular trims every 4-6 weeks.
  10. Chris Hemsworth’s quiff haircut, like many of his others, features long, brushed back hair on top that contrasts with shorter sides. This one’s all about structure and volume, with the brushed back hair rising upward to form a soft point in the center of Hemsworth’s head.
    • How to Ask for this Style: Ask for a layered cut where the sides are shorter than the top. Then, request that your barber use hair wax to hold the style in place while keeping a natural look.
    • Maintenance Tips: Style with hair wax or sea salt spray daily.
  11. Once upon a time, Chris Hemsworth rocked a man bun, so when he stepped onto the scene with an undercut, it was a crazy change to fans. That doesn’t mean it was unwelcome, though, as the shaved sides and elongated top contrasted well with each other and helped draw attention to his striking facial features. It’s no wonder he continued going into the short hair direction![8]
    • How to Ask for this Style: Ask for a low undercut on the sides to contrast with longer hair on top. Then, request that your barber apply sea salt spray or gel and style your hair to slightly hang over your forehead.
    • Maintenance Tips: Get a fade every 2 weeks. Get a trim every 4-6 weeks.
  12. The buzz cut suits everyone, so it makes sense that Hemsworth has rocked it–even if it was for a brief stint in his career. He wore it before he took on the role of Thor, yet it still gave him a sense of sharp elegance. The short hair on top helped highlight his face’s natural angles, showing off his jawline and facial symmetry.[9]
    • How to Ask for this Style: Ask your barber for a buzz cut all-around.
    • Maintenance Tips: Get regular trims every 2-4 weeks.

How to Cut the Short Chris Hemsworth Haircut

PDF download Download Article
  1. 1
Start by washing your hair. Before you start cutting the hair, you want to make sure that it’s clean and not weighed down by any dirt, grime, or product. So, grab some shampoo and head over to a sink or shower to start washing your hair. Then, rinse the shampoo out and condition your hair. Let the conditioner sit for two minutes, then rinse it.[10]
  2. 2
Part your hair using a comb to section it. After washing your hair, grab a fine-toothed comb and part your hair to separate the top and bottom sections. Once you part it, comb each section away from the part (comb the hair below the part towards your neck and the hair above the part towards the top of your head).[11]
  3. 3
Blow-dry your hair and cut a taper fade. Use a blow dryer to dry your washed hair, then grab a pair of clippers to create a baseline on the lower sides and back of your head for your taper fade. As you make your way up towards the part, add gradually longer guards with the level open to make guidelines. Then, use the clippers to blend the guidelines and create your taper fade.[12]
  4. 4
Use #0 guard clippers to create an undercut, then trim the blend with scissors. After cutting the taper fade, use a pair of #0 guard clippers on the lower sides and back of the fade to create an even more blended look. Building out this blend will create the undercut. Once you’ve got the undercut, grab a comb and use it to lift the area where the fade starts to get longer. Then, use a pair of scissors to trim the hair in the comb.[13]
  5. 5
Comb the top of your hair to the side and trim. Release the top of your hair from the section you made earlier and comb it off towards the left or right side. Then, grab a pair of scissors and trim the overhang, starting from the back and working your way down towards the front in a straight diagonal line. As you work your way down, use your fingers to section off the hair and make it easier to keep things uniform.[14]
  6. 6
Continue trimming the overhang, gradually shifting lengths. Bring the hair towards the center of the head and trim it to about 95 mm (3.74 in). Then, grab your comb and bring the overhang back to the side, gradually making your way up in a diagonal line towards the back as you continue trimming. As you trim, use your comb to bring the top hairs up, then cut them to 60 mm (2.36 in).[15]
  7. 7
Comb the long hair over your forehead so it slightly hangs. Now that you’ve got the haircut like Chris Hemsworth, use a comb (or your fingers) to bring the longer section of hair over your forehead so it sits as Hemsworth’s does. If you do it correctly, the hair should gradually curl into the rest of your hair, like a wave.[16]
