Microsoft Edge Game Assist is a new feature in Windows 11 that allows you to see guides and tips easily while you’re playing a game. If the widget is slowing down your computer’s performance, it’s super easy to close or uninstall from your computer. Keep reading, and we’ll walk you through how to get rid of Game Assist from your device through your settings or terminal commands so your games run smoothly!
Ways to Close or Uninstall Game Assist
- While playing a game, press Windows + G to open the Game Bar, and click the Unpin button on the Game Assist panel to close it.
- Access the Game Bar’s Widget menu, navigate to Widget Store → Installed, and click on the 3 dots next to Game Assist to uninstall it.
- Go through Settings → Apps → Installed Apps, search for Microsoft Edge Game Assist, and click the 3 dots to uninstall the program.

Turning Off Game Assist

Press ⊞ Win+G to access the Game Bar. Use the keyboard shortcut while you’re playing a game to make the Game Bar overlay appear on screen. Here you’ll see any widgets you have installed, including Game Assist on the right side.[1]

Removing the Game Assist Widget

Use ⊞ Win+G to open the Game Bar. Whenever you’re playing a game on your computer, use the keyboard shortcut to open Game Bar and any other widgets you’ve installed.

Open the Widget Store to see your installed widgets. Select the Widgets icon, which resembles two rectangles near the top of your screen. Then, select Widget Store near the bottom of the list. Then, click on the Installed tab near the top of the window.[3]

Uninstall Microsoft Edge Game Assist. Look through the list until you find Microsoft Edge Game Assist, and click on the 3 dots near the right side of the window.
