This wikiHow guide teaches you how to close your personal Yelp account, which will remove any reviews and photos that you have posted. We'll also show you how to delete your business account and/or unclaim your business if needed. Keep in mind that you cannot delete an account from the Yelp mobile app, nor can you delete your business from Yelp entirely.
Deleting a Personal Yelp Account: Quick Steps
- Go to the Yelp Account Closure request form.
- Log in to Yelp if prompted.
- Fill out the form and click Send.
- Follow the instructions in the email from Yelp to confirm.
Steps
-
Delete any reviews you want removed immediately. When you close your Yelp account, Yelp will eventually remove your content, but this could take a while. If there are reviews or images you want removed immediately, delete them yourself before closing your account.
- In the Yelp mobile app, go to Me > Reviews and select the review you want to delete. Tap ••• and select Remove Review.[1]
- On the web, go to your profile icon > About Me > Reviews and click Remove Review next to a review.
-
Open the Yelp Account Closure page. To do so, go to yelp.com/support/contact/account_closure in your web browser. You can use this form on any computer, phone, or tablet.
- If you aren't signed in to Yelp, you will be prompted to do so to view the form.

Enter your account closure request. You can simply ask for Yelp to delete your account or provide a reason for your request; it doesn't matter. You will have to type something, even if it's just one letter, into the box.
-
Click Send. Doing so will send your request to Yelp; Yelp will then send a confirmation email to your email address.
-
Confirm your request. When you submit your request, you'll receive a confirmation message from Yelp via email. Open the message from Yelp, and follow the instructions in the message to continue deleting your account.
- Once you confirm that you want to close your account, your data will begin to be deleted. This process does not happen all at once, but over the next week or so, all of your photos and reviews will be deleted from Yelp.
-
Ask Yelp to delete your data (optional). If you don't want any of your data to remain with Yelp, you can send an email request to dataprotection@yelp.com to request the deletion of all data associated with your account.[2]
-
Go to the business account closure request page. If you use a Business Yelp account to interact with your business's customers, view analytics, and manage your business's listing, you can use this method to delete your business account. Just keep in mind that this will not delete your business from Yelp–there is no way to completely remove your business from Yelp.[3]
- If you want to keep your business account but would rather it not be associated with a specific business, you can unclaim the business instead.
- If you are a current advertiser on Yelp, you will need to contact customer service before you can delete your business account. You can contact customer service through the Business section of Yelp for Business.[4]
- Yelp will not delete your business account if there are Yelp Deals vouchers tied to your business.[5]
-
Search for your business. Enter the business's name and location, then click Search to pull up matching results.
-
Select your business and fill out the form. Follow the on-screen instructions to request that your business account be closed. If you receive a confirmation message from Yelp, follow the instructions in the method to finish closing your account.
-
Go to the business page "unclaiming" request page. If you no longer want access to Yelp's tools for managing your business, you can unclaim your business on Yelp. However, this will not remove the business from Yelp. To unclaim a business, you'll need to send in a request.[6]
- Unfortunately, Yelp does not allow you to completely remove your business from its website or app. The only way that Yelp business owners have gotten listings removed is through lawsuits against Yelp.[7]
-
Search for your business. Enter the business's name and location, then click Search to pull up matching results.
-
Click Select this business. It's a red button to the right of your business.
-
Fill out the unclaiming request form and click Send. Enter any information you want Yelp to have into the "Additional information" text box, then type your business account's email address into the "Your Email Address" text field.
- Make sure that you use the email address that you used to sign up for Yelp.
- Yelp will send a confirmation email to you before removing your access to the business account. This is to prevent someone from removing your access without your permission.
- When you receive a confirmation message from Yelp, follow the instructions to confirm your choice.
