Whether you want to show off your love for this cute little monster or you’re just looking for something new to sketch, Labubu is fun and easy to draw! We talked to Labubu collector Roderick Thedbert to nail down the details of an authentic Labubu. Then, we broke it all down into easy-to-follow steps. Keep reading to learn how to draw a Labubu’s face and body, then add finishing touches like color and customization.

How do you draw Labubu?

Labubu collector Roderick Thedbert says when you’re drawing a Labubu, focus on the oval eyes and 9 pointed teeth. Here’s the breakdown:

  1. Draw a small upturned curve, then a larger oval beneath that for the eyes.
  2. Make a small horizontal oval with a point on the bottom for the nose.
  3. Add a wide smile with 9 pointed teeth.
  4. Make a horizontal oval around the face, then add another oval around that for the head.
  5. Draw 3 upside-down U shapes for each ear.
  6. Add a fluffy body, arms, and legs.
  7. Draw hands with a thumb and 3 fingers, and feet with 3 toes.

Drawing a Labubu Face & Ears

  1. Thedbert says Labubu’s eyes “should be oval.”[1] Start by sketching two small upturned curves (like a boat shape). These are the tops of the eyes and will give your Labubu its signature furrowed brow look.[2]
    • Next, draw big vertical ovals extending down from the shapes you just drew. This will be the outline for the rest of the eye.
    • Draw smaller ovals inside each of the ovals you just drew. These are the pupils.[3]
    • Add 1–2 small circles, ovals, or sparkles inside the pupil as a highlight, then color in the pupil.

  2. Thedbert says that Labubu noses are shaped like an upside-down triangle.[4] The nose should be small and slightly rounded on top. This should look almost like a heart shape, without the indentation on top.[5]

  3. Make a small dot just outside of each eye, near the center. These will be the corners of the mouth. Draw a single, curved line from each of these dots all the way down so they meet beneath the nose.[6]
  4. The W will be the Labubu’s front two teeth.[7] Thedbert says that Labubus always have 9 teeth.[8] Add 7 more triangle shapes along the smile—3 to the left of the center and 4 to the right.
    • The tops of the teeth should be touching each other, so the teeth should look sort of like one continuous zigzag line along the mouth.
    • Don’t draw the teeth all the way to the corners of the mouth. The mouth line should extend past the teeth.
  5. Draw a tiny zigzag line just above the eyes, centered above the nose. This is a tuft of the Labubu’s fur. Then, draw a wide, horizontal oval from the zigzag you made all the way under the Labubu’s chin.[9]
    • If you’d like, add a few more little zigzags to give your Labubu a fuzzier look. These can be as subtle or obvious as you’d like—it’s up to you!
  6. Draw another horizontal oval around the top of the one you just made to form the head. Space this oval so there’s a larger gap above the Labubu’s forehead and a narrower space beneath her chin.[10]
    • Labubus are pretty fuzzy, so consider adding more zigzags to the outside of this shape to mimic the Labubu’s fur.
  7. On top of the Labubu’s head, draw two tall upside-down U shapes, similar to rabbit ears, but maybe a little wider, and about half the total height of the Labubu’s head. If you want, you can add zigzags to this shape too. This will form the furry outline of the Labubu’s ears.[11]
    • Make another, smaller upside-down U shape at the bottom of the ear just inside the shape you just drew. This will be the velvety middle section inside the ears.
    • Then, repeat with a third, even smaller upside-down U shape in the very center of the ear at the bottom. This is the darker center section of the ears.

Adding the Labubu’s Body, Hands, & Feet

  1. Make the body a little narrower than the head, but still rounded. It should be a little fuller on the bottom, like an egg. Add zigzag shapes to the outline to show the Labubu’s plush fur.[12]
    • The Labubu’s body should be about the same height as her face (the inner circle, not the whole head).
  2. Add two short, fluffy, rectangular-shaped arms right at the top of the Labubu’s body. Labubu doesn’t have a neck, so start the arms right underneath the head. For the length, make them just long enough to line up with the outside of the Labubu’s head.[13]
    • For the hands, add a rounded thumb on top and 3 rounded fingers on the bottom. Labubu’s hands are short and stubby, so all you need to draw are the fingers.
  3. Start the legs right at the outside of the body—make them slightly longer than the arms, but not as long as the body. Have the legs touch in the center of the body or leave a small gap between them, but don’t make them too thin.[14]
    • If you’d like, draw a small curved line right at the top of the legs to show Labubu’s round belly.[15]
    • Add three pointed toes for the feet.

Coloring Your Labubu Drawing

  1. Labubu’s skin is a warm peachy shade. It shouldn’t be too pale or too yellow. Use the same color on the face, hands, feet, and the middle oval on the ears.
    • If you’d like, add subtle rosy shading on the cheeks right above the corners of Labubu’s mouth.
  2. Usually, the color of a Labubu’s nose matches the innermost part of its ears. Dark brown is a common color for Labubu’s nose, but it can also be a soft red or pink.
    • Feel free to experiment with different colors—it’s your Labubu!
  3. Labubu comes in an endless variety of colors, from neutrals like brown and grey to bold shades like bright green and pink, and even tie-dye! Pick your favorite color, or go with a shade that matches your favorite Labubu. There’s no wrong choice here!
