ChatGPT is an AI chatbot developed by OpenAI that has become one of the most popular and fastest-growing consumer software applications in history.[1]

Like all other popular websites, ChatGPT also provides a dark mode option for its users. Using dark mode on websites has several benefits, including reducing eye strain and fatigue, improving readability, and more. This wikiHow will teach you how to enable dark mode on ChatGPT.

Login to the ChatGPT website. Open chatgpt.com on your web browser and log in with your account using the "Log in" button at the top-right corner of the screen. You can’t change settings without logging in to ChatGPT.
    • ChatGPT will set your system’s theme as its default theme. If your PC is in dark mode, you either have to log in to your account or change your system theme.
  2. 2
Click your profile icon. You can see your profile icon, along with your display name if the sidebar is expanded, at the bottom-left corner of your screen. A menu box will show up.
    • If you use a mobile browser, tap the two-line button, at the top-left corner of your screen.
  3. 3
Click on the Settings option. You can find it next to the Help option in the menu box.
  4. 4
Navigate to the Theme option. Click on the “Light” or “System” option next to the “Theme” settings.

Enable the dark theme. Choose “Dark” from the options to apply the dark theme to the web page.
  6. 6
That's it! ChatGPT's dark mode appears more grey than fully dark. If you want to get a completely dark mode, you can enable it using Chrome flags or install a dedicated extension from the Chrome Web Store. That's all!
    • If you want to change the theme back to normal, simply go to the same settings and select “light”.
