Are you thinking of spending more time naked? While ditching clothes for your birthday suit holds some appeal, you might wonder if it's possible to be both nude and happy. This article provides some ideas that can help you to not only dip your toes (or, in this case, your whole body) into nudism but also find enjoyment in it.

Get Comfortable

  1. Perhaps your initial reaction to nudism or naturism was bewilderment as to how people could relish being naked. However, if your goal is to enjoy being in your birthday suit, you'll need to change your thinking.
    • Some report that being naked can help one feel better about themselves, both physically and mentally.[1]
    • It can also make chores and other mundane tasks fun and even enjoyable.[2]
    • If you're grappling with accepting your body, this is a good time to tackle the issue directly as being naked can help you to love yourself.[3]
  2. If you share the home with your significant other, consider telling them about your idea to wander down this path. After all, they're likely one of the people you enjoy spending time with the most. And spending time together in the buff can help you to draw closer together, even if it isn't for intimacy.
    • No matter how alike you might be, however, it goes without saying that your spouse has their own preferences and feelings about nudity. They might have no interest whatsoever in naturism or even be against it. If that's the case, respect their decision and try to make a compromise.

  3. Get comfortable with being in the buff. After all, you likely won't enjoy being naked if it causes you anxiety. If you are not comfortable being fully naked at first, try transitioning by getting used to wearing less clothing.[4]
    • For example, you might set a goal to wear minimal clothing while getting ready for bed. Alternatively, gradually remove your clothes. Each day you work towards being fully nude, remove one more article of clothing.
    • You could also be naked for shorter periods of time and then gradually increase them. There's no rush if you need more time to adapt.
  4. Once you've stripped down, take a good look at yourself in the mirror. Although you might be tempted to unfavorably compare yourself with others, focus on your body's positive aspects instead. You are yourself, and you are beautiful the way you are!
    • Notice how it feels to let your body be free. With no clothing on, you'll likely sense the air everywhere on your body, especially on those parts that are usually covered.
    • While you might be used to looking at your body in the mirror after taking a shower or bath, use this moment to really examine it. Try viewing different angles of yourself, such as your backside.
    • Think about the aspects of your body that you are proud of or features that you didn't notice before. View being naked as a time to show off these positives, just as you might proudly display a work of art in your home.
  5. To enjoy being naked, it's important to make your environment comfortable. Wearing clothes can be comfortable, so you'll need to compensate for the lack of fabric.
    • Adjust the room temperature to a comfortable setting. Depending on the season, you might need to set the thermostat a little bit higher than if you were clothed.
    • During parts of the year when your home is the coldest, limit being bare to when you're engaged in activities that warm you up, such as exercise, or those that involve a heat source, such as baking.
    • If your seating is upholstered with leather or a similar material, cover the back rest with a towel or other large piece of fabric to prevent your skin from sticking. It's a good idea to do the same for the seat itself, regardless of the fabric, for comfort and cleanliness.

Cherish Your Body

  1. It isn't a pleasant feeling when you're sweaty or dirty, regardless of whether you're clothed or not. But without any clothing to absorb sweat and other bodily secretions, you might more easily notice being dirty.
    • When bathing, use bodywash that has a lovely fragrance and the perfect shampoo and conditioner suitable for your hair type. Always use conditioner—it makes hair stronger and shinier. After bathing, apply serum on your wet hair to keep it healthy.
    • Additionally, ensure to clean yourself thoroughly after using the toilet. You might use a bidet or wipes to achieve this.
  2. Your body does a lot for you—use this time to show your appreciation by pampering it. Go beyond simply bathing by doing whatever makes your body feel and look good.
    • Give yourself a massage, moisturize your skin (especially those parts you might usually overlook, like your back), do your nails, try out hairstyles or put on makeup. Really, do whatever you want.
    • You might use this as an opportunity to trim or even remove body hair, if that's something you're interested in doing.

Enjoy Nudism

  1. Think about your hobbies and other activities that you do to relax and have fun. If possible, engage in these activities while completely undressed—doing so can help you to associate being naked with having fun.
    • If such an activity is usually done outdoors, you might need to find a way to enjoy it in your home unless you have the circumstances and desire to go outside while naked.
  2. Wash the dishes, clean up around the house, prepare a meal, do the laundry, paint or do anything else that needs to be taken care of. While you might view such tasks as just chores that have to get done, performing them while nude can add can a sense of fun and help you to look forward to doing them. (Yes, even cleaning the toilet is more fun when done naked as compared to when you're clothed.)
    • Many of these chores involve moving around, which is a great way to feel the freedom of being naked. And to add to it, if you do get something on you, such as some paint from that room makeover or a splash of the dressing for tonight's salad, you don't have to fret about removing the stain from your clothes.
    • Of course, it is important to still wear safety equipment appropriate for the task, such as rubber gloves when cleaning or an apron when cooking with high temperatures. A sure way to lose your enjoyment of being naked is to get hurt because your skin was exposed to dangerous heat or chemicals.
  3. Although many nudists and naturists enjoy being part of a club or visiting a beach or resort, it doesn't mean that these are necessary in order to enjoy being naked.
    • Even if it's just for some relatively short moments at home, take advantage of them and go bare. Once you've learned how to enjoy being naked, you can find pleasure in your natural state even at these times.
