Types Of Fruits

  • Berries: Berries are known for being small and juicy, with bright colors. Many berries, like raspberries and blueberries, are easy to identify because they have their fruit type in the name. But others, like grapes, do not.
  • Citruses: Citrus fruits have thick rinds surrounding soft inner fruit. They often have tangy, bright flavors, and they're known for their antioxidants. Examples include oranges, lemons, and limes.
  • Melons: Melons are mainly made up of water, and there is more variety within this category of fruits. Watermelon, honeydew, and cantaloupe are all in this family of fruits.
  • Stone Fruits: This fruit gets its name from the hard, stone-like pit that sits in the middle of this fruit type. From cherries to peaches (and even olives!), these are crowd-pleasing fruits that are best in the summertime.
  • Pomes: Pomes are a common fruit type with seeds in the center, and the flesh of the fruit is firmer than other fruit types. Apples and pears are in this fruit category.
  • Tropical Fruits: Tropical fruits grow in very warm, humid climates, and create unique, vibrant flavors. Pineapples and passionfruit are in this category.
  • Exotic Fruits: Exotic fruits refer to less common fruit types with bold flavors. Lychee and Durian fall into this category.
