If you ever need to view another phone's call log, there are a couple of ways to do so. If it's someone you share a phone plan with, you can see who they've been calling by logging in to the carrier's website. If the person is your child, you can install certain parental control apps that can monitor your child's call history. Or, if you have physical access to their phone and the screen is unlocked, you can view the person's call log in their Android or iPhone's Phone app. If the person isn't your child or sharing an account with you, you will need full permission from the phone owner to legally view their call log.
Getting Another Phone's Call Logs: What to Know
If you share a mobile phone plan with the person, log in to the carrier's website using your account username and password, select their phone, then find the "Usage" or "Recent Activity" area. For a child's phone, install a parental control app that provides access to call logs like mSpy, FamilyTime, or Verizon Family.
Steps
Using the Carrier's Website
-
Log in to the mobile carrier's website. If you want to see the call log for another phone with which you share a carrier plan, you can usually do so by logging in to the account in a web browser. This will only work if the phone log you want to check is connected to your account–for example, if it's your child, husband, wife, etc. If you don't share an account with the person you're checking on, the only legit way to get their call log is through a subpoena, or if the person is your child, a parental control app.
- Some common carrier account websites:
- Some carriers do not provide this information online, especially prepaid carriers. For example, if your carrier is Straight Talk or Tracfone, you must submit a request for call detail records via fax.[1]
- If you have access to a physical phone bill, it should contain call logs. This is especially helpful for landlines, but could also benefit you if the person whose call log you want to see still prefers to receive a paper phone bill.
-
2Select the person's phone. If you have more than one phone connected to the account, you'll need to select the phone with the call logs you want to see. Call histories are separated by phone or phone number.Advertisement
-
Click the carrier's "Usage/Recent Activity" tab. Depending on the carrier's site format, the phrasing and location of this option will vary; however, every carrier has the option to view the call log of whichever phone is currently logged in.
-
Review the call log results. You should be able to see the call history from the past month, at the very least.
Using Parental Control Apps
-
1Install a parental control app that lets you view call logs. If you want to be able to monitor who your child is calling or receiving calls from, you can subscribe to and install a parental control app that allows you to view and monitor another phone's call history. Surprisingly, not all parental control apps allow you to get call logs from a child's phone, but the following apps all do:
- FamilyTime
- Kroha
- MMGuardian (Android version only)
- mSpy
- Qustodio
- Safe Lagoon
- Verizon Family
-
2Install the parental control app on your phone. Most of these services have separate versions of the app for parents and children. Before you install the app on the target device, you will typically need to install the parental version on your own device, log in, and follow some setup instructions.
-
3Add the child's phone to the parental control app. In most cases, after installing the parent version of the app on your own phone, you'll need to add your child's device. The steps vary by app, but you'll typically start the process on your own phone, then finish it on your child's phone.[2]
- You will typically be instructed to install the child's version of the app on your child's phone during this process.
-
4Enable the call history/log feature if needed. Some parental control apps won't enable this feature by default, so look through the settings and enable any call and text monitoring features you want to use.
-
5Check the other phone's call logs as needed. Most parental control apps provide live reporting, which means you can log in to the parent version of the app and see incoming and outgoing calls from connected phones in real time.[3]

Warnings
- Unless you have the explicit permission of the individual whom you're trying to check up on, tracking or looking up another person's phone call log can have serious legal repercussions. Thanks
