How to Get Cosmog in Pokémon Sun and Moon

In Pokémon Sun and Moon, Cosmog is a Psychic-type legendary Pokémon that evolves twice, the final time into either Solgaleo or Lunala, depending on whether you have Sun or Moon. While playing the game, you'll see a Cosmog travelling with Lillie which has a major impact on the plot of the game. Eventually, you'll be able to get one of your own, which this article will explain how to do.

Catch Solgaleo or Lunala.

You'll get Solgaleo in Pokémon Sun, and Lunala in Pokémon Moon. This event happens after you complete the games' final trial.

Defeat the Elite Four and Champion.

It will include a fight with Tapu Koko, where you can catch it, before the credits.

Put Solgaleo or Lunala in your party.

Otherwise, make sure that either Solgaleo or Lunala are in your party, depending on which one you caught.

Go to the Altar of the Sunne or the Altar of the Moone.

If you're playing Pokémon Sun, go to the Altar of the Sunne during the nighttime. If you're playing Pokémon Moon, go to the Altar of the Moone during the daytime. Either way, once you're there, go through the rift to appear at either the Altar of the Moone in Pokémon Sun or the Altar of the Sunne in Pokémon Moon. The fastest way to make it there is to use the Charizard Glide.

Go to the Lake of the Sunne or the Lake of the Moone.

Go to the Lake of the Sunne if you’re playing Pokémon Sun, or the Lake of the Moone if you’re playing Pokémon Moon. Once you're there, you'll see a cutscene where a Cosmog appears. After the cutscene ends, go up to the Cosmog and press A to get your very own Cosmog.

If you're looking for a specific nature and/or IVs, you can save before talking to Cosmog and reset if it isn't what you want. The fastest way to reset is by soft resetting, which you can do by pressing L, R, and either Select or Start at the same time.

You don't need to have a free space in your party to get Cosmog, unlike in previous games.
