Things You Should Know

Try swapping your charger for an Apple or MFi charger, or switch from a wireless charger to a regular one.
Using your phone while it charges can make your device get hotter than normal, so avoid using your phone while it charges.
If your phone is getting so hot that it powers down while charging, contact Apple to see if you can get your phone's battery replaced.

If you're not using an Apple-brand charger or a high-quality, Apple-approved third-party charger, there's a chance that your charger could be the culprit of your phone getting too hot. It's not abnormal for your phone to get warm or hot while charging. If your phone gets too hot it will shut itself down to keep itself from getting damaged. If your phone doesn't shut down, you can be assured that your device isn't getting so hot it will get damaged.
