Do you want to add a picture to that Word document while you're on the go? You can use photos already in your Camera Roll or Gallery, or you can take a new photo and insert it right from your device. This wikiHow will show you how to insert an image in Word on mobile Android, iPhone, and iPad, with tips on using the Continuity Camera on Mac.
Adding a Picture in the Word App
To insert an image in Word using your iPhone, iPad, or Android, tap the location you want to place it. Then, select the Insert tab and tap Pictures. Select from your gallery or tap Camera to take a photo.
Steps
-
Open your document in Word. Do this by tapping the Word app icon to open the program, then tapping the document that you want to add the image to.
- Also, you will need to make sure Word has access to your photos. Go to Settings > Privacy > Photos and tap the switch next to the Office product.[1]
- You can also do this in PowerPoint or Excel with the mobile app.
-
Tap where you want to add the image. This step makes sure that you have the cursor located in the same place where you want the image to appear.
- You may need to tap the pencil icon to go to editing mode if tapping does not work.

-
Edit the image and tap Done. You have the opportunity to crop or rotate the image before inserting it into your document.
- You can always edit the image after it's inserted into your document by tapping it and then tapping Picture in the editing menu.

- Your iPhone or iPad must be running iOS 12+, and your computer must be running macOS Mojave or newer.
- Make sure Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are enabled on both devices.
-

-
4Click Take Photo underneath your iOS device's name. If you don't see your device name, make sure both devices are connected to Wi-Fi and have Bluetooth enabled.
-
5On your mobile device, take a photo. The camera app should open with the request from your computer. If it doesn't, make sure it's unlocked first.
- If you're unhappy with the photo, you can tap Retake to take the photo again.
-
6Tap Use Photo. The photo will be inserted into the document on your Mac.
