PDF download Download Article

KonoSuba is a popular comedy-isekai anime series in which a shut-in gamer is reincarnated as an adventurer in a parallel world. The franchise includes a lot of content, such as 3 seasons of the main series, multiple OVAs, a movie, and even a spin-off series. If that sounds overwhelming, you’re in luck—an anime expert partnered with wikiHow to share the best order to watch KonoSuba. We’ll explain all the story arcs, where to watch the series, and more!

What’s the best order to watch KonoSuba?

Anime expert David Ross recommends watching KonoSuba in release order, starting with KonoSuba season 1 and ending with the Beware of Fakes! OVA. If you want to watch in chronological order, start with the An Explosion on This Wonderful World! spin-off series, and watch the first OVA in the middle of KonoSuba season 2.

  1. There’s a lot of content in the KonoSuba franchise, including 3 seasons of the main series, 4 OVAs (original video animation), a movie, and a spin-off series. This may sound a bit overwhelming at first, but it’s easy to keep track of if you watch everything in release order.[1] According to Ross, this is the best order to watch the series:[2]
    • KonoSuba season 1 (2016)
    • KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful Choker! (OVA, 2016)
    • KonoSuba season 2 (2017)
    • KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on These Wonderful Works of Art! (OVA, 2017)
    • KonoSuba: Legend of Crimson (movie, 2019)
    • KonoSuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World! season 1 (spin-off series, 2023)
    • KonoSuba season 3 (2024)
    • KonoSuba: Red Stream Explosion! (OVA, 2025)
    • KonoSuba: Beware of Fakes! (OVA, 2025)
    • Note: The main series’s full title is KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World!

How to Watch KonoSuba in Chronological Order

PDF download Download Article
  1. If you want to watch KonoSuba according to the chronological, in-universe timeline, it’s almost the same as the release order, with a few key differences. The first season of the spinoff series occurs before the first season of the main series, and the OVA God’s Blessing on This Wonderful Choker! occurs in the middle of KonoSuba season 2. Here’s the full breakdown:[3]
    • KonoSuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World! season 1
    • KonoSuba season 1
    • KonoSuba season 2 (episodes 1-5)
    • KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful Choker! (OVA)
    • KonoSuba season 2 (episodes 6-10)
    • KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on These Wonderful Works of Art! (OVA)
    • KonoSuba: Legend of Crimson (movie)
    • KonoSuba season 3
    • KonoSuba: Red Stream Explosion! (OVA)
    • KonoSuba: Beware of Fakes! (OVA)
    • Note: Even though the spin-off series takes place before KonoSuba season 1, if you haven’t already, we highly recommend watching the main series first so you’re familiar with the characters, setting, and worldbuilding.

Darkness’s Arc (episode 14) In this episode, fans finally learn more about Darkness’s life, including arranged marriages, duels, and secret plots. 10. 10
Vanir’s Arc (episodes 15-17) Strange things are happening at Keele’s Dungeon as tiny doll-like creatures are milling around outside, and it seems like someone new has taken up residence within. After being beaten, Vanir joins Wiz at her shop, looking to make a deal. Kazuma ends up partnering up with the ex-Demon Army commander to make and sell things from Kazuma’s home world.
  11. 11
God’s Blessing on This Wonderful Choker! (OVA) This OVA is technically listed under season 1, but the events happen after Kazuma deals with Vanir in the dungeon but before Vanir starts working at Wiz’s shop. While at Wiz’s shop, Kazuma tries on a choker, not realizing it’s a magical item. He now has 4 days to fulfill the wish he subconsciously made when putting it on, or the choker will strangle him to death.[10]
  12. 12
Alcanretia Arc (episodes 17-20) Kazuma is faced with the decision of accepting a one-off payment from Vanir for selling intellectual rights to the goods from his homeworld or maintaining a profit-sharing contract. So, he goes to the city of Arcanretia to heal his injuries, do some sightseeing, and mull things over.
    • Meanwhile, Aqua is the patron goddess of Arcanretia’s local religion, but no one believes her when she reveals herself to her followers. Instead, they suspect she is a member of the Demon King’s army and launch a witch hunt against her.
  13. 13
God’s Blessings on These Wonderful Works of Art! (OVA) In this OVA, Kazuma meets a novice adventurer named Ran, who claims to be a fan of his. 14. 14
Legend of Crimson (movie) In this film, Kazuma and his party journey to Megumin’s hometown, the Crimson Magic Clan’s village. YunYun makes another appearance, saying that the Crimson Demon Village may have been wiped out. • Isekai Quartet season 1 (2019)

What is KonoSuba about?

  1. KonoSuba follows gamer Kazuma Satou, who is reincarnated into a fantasy world. After shut-in gamer Kazuma Satou dies an embarrassing, untimely death, he meets a goddess named Aqua, who offers to reincarnate him into a parallel world with MMORPG elements. Together, they form a party with an explosion-obsessed magician named Megumin and a masochistic crusader named Darkness and go on a quest to defeat the Devil King.[19]
    • Is KonoSuba a harem? Technically, KonoSuba isn’t a harem anime, but it parodies a lot of harem elements. Kazuma is surrounded by beautiful women, and there is a bit of romantic teasing, but the show is ultimately an isekai with comedic elements.
    • What is KonoSuba rated? In the United States, KonoSuba has a TV-14 rating, which means its content could be inappropriate for young children. The female characters often wear revealing clothing and stand in provocative poses. There’s also a lot of discussion of underwear, stealing it, and how some characters don’t wear it.
