Labubu is the most popular figure from Kasing Lung’s series The Monsters, but have you ever wondered about the other characters? We’re breaking down everything we know about the characters inside the Labubu universe. We’re also sharing a guide to the Labubus from each major series, plus limited-edition plushes.

Who are the Labubu characters?

• Labubu: The most famous of The Monsters
• Zimomo: Looks like Labubu but has a spiked tail; leader of the Labubus

   Labubu Labubu is by far the most famous of all of the characters in Kasing Lung’s book series The Monsters. She’s helpful and kind-hearted, but a bit mischievous—which you can probably tell from her big, toothy grin.

   • Fun fact: Zimomo and Mokoko look very similar to Labubu, but other characters from The Monsters have their own distinct appearance.

   Zimomo Zimomo looks a lot like Labubu, but you can tell them apart because Zimomo has a long, spiked tail and Labubu doesn’t have a tail at all. Zimomo is a male, and he’s known for being calm, gentle, and introspective.

   • Fun fact: Zimomo is the leader of the Labubu tribe.

   Mokoko Although she’s considered part of the Labubu tribe, Mokoko is unique. She’s a pale pink monster with a white belly and a heart-shaped nose. Some Labubus are also pink, but they’re not Mokokos because they don’t have the white stomach or heart nose. Mokoko also has curly eyelashes, which regular Labubus don’t have.

   • Fun fact: The name Mokoko means “special.”

   Tycoco Tycoco is a skeleton who also happens to be Labubu’s boyfriend. He might look a little scary, but Tycoco is harmless, and he’s actually a vegetarian. In The Monsters, Tycoco proves himself a patient and loyal friend—even when Labubu’s antics get a little out of hand.

   • Fun fact: Tycoco makes an appearance on some Labubu dolls, like “Catch Me If You Like Me.”

   Spooky Spooky is a snowman who lives near the Labubu village. He has the same mischievous eyes as Labubu, but Spooky is known for being quiet and curious. He frequently visits his Labubu friends, usually at night.

   • Fun fact: Spooky’s head looks a little like a dumpling, but it’s actually a snowball.

   Pato Pato is a cheerful-looking character with big, droopy ears. Pato is an innovative dreamer who loves coming up with big plans for Labubu and their friends.

   • Fun fact: Pato is usually purple, but not always.

   Pippo Pippo is a river elf with big ears that stick out. He’s a close friend of Labubu and Zimomo. Pippo is very creative, and he loves making gifts for his friends.

   • Fun fact: It’s said that Pippo loves a good party, especially if there’s wine. He’s often depicted wearing a cheerful party hat.

   Yaya Yaya is an elf with pointed horns and a mischievous grin. Yaya loves to explore, but isn’t a very good navigator.

   • Fun Fact: Yaya got lost on an adventure, eventually finding the Labubu tribe. Yaya liked the Labubus and decided to stay.

   Vos Vos is said to be Tycoco’s cousin. However, Vos isn’t a skeleton. He’s an extroverted bear-like creature with pointed ears.

   • Fun fact: Like Pippo, it’s said that Vos loves a glass of wine and a good party.

    Puca Puca is a faun-like monster with horns, a bushy beard, and hooved feet. He lives in the forest near the Labubu tribe.

    • Fun fact: The first book in The Monsters Trilogy is named The Story of Puca.

    Monster Boy At first glance, Monster Boy appears to be a regular boy wandering the forest. But he actually has three horns on his head.

    • Fun fact: Monster Boy’s eyes are sometimes blue and sometimes yellow.

   Exciting Macaron The Labubu Exciting Macaron series combines the Labubu craze with the classy colors of macaron cookies. The soft colors are all named after a flavor:

   • Soy Milk: Cream-colored
   • Green Grape: Pale green
   • Lychee Berry: Pink
   • Sea Salt Coconut: Pale blue
   • Sesame Bean: Soft gray
   • Toffee: Beige
   • Chestnut Cocoa (Secret): Chocolate brown

   Have A Seat The Have A Seat series features seated Labubus with unique expressions. These Labubus are great if you want one with relaxed energy or you want it to sit on the edge of a shelf. The figures in Have A Seat include:

   • Sisi: Pale yellow with eyes scrunched shut
   • Hehe: Grey with eyes scrunched shut
   • Baba: Caramel-colored with open eyes
   • Zizi: Purple with eyes peacefully closed
   • Ququ: Green with open eyes
   • Dada: Pale pink, looking off to one side
   • Duoduo (Secret): Warm brown, looking off to one side

   Big Into Energy The Big Into Energy series features colorful Labubus with tie-dyed fur. These vinyl plushes are all about good vibes, and each one embodies a different positive emotion. The figures in this series include:

   • Love: Red and pink tie-dye
   • Happiness: Orange and cream tie-dye
   • Loyalty: Pink and yellow tie-dye
   • Serenity: Teal and green tie-dye
   • Hope: Blue and white tie-dye
   • Luck: Pink and blue tie-dye
   • ID (Secret): Black and grey tie-dye with rainbow-colored teeth and eyes

   Coca-Cola Series Labubu and Coca-Cola teamed up for this superstar series. There are three special collectible Labubus in the series. They include:

   • Surprise Shake: An all-white Labubu with a red Santa hat and a Coca-Cola in a glass bottle
   • Happy Factor: A seated white Labubu with a red scarf and a can of Coca-Cola
   • Mysterious Guest (Secret): A brown Labubu popping out of a can of Coca-Cola

   Pin For Love (Mini Labubu) One of the newest series of Labubu is the mini version “Pin For Love.” Each is associated with a letter of the alphabet or a punctuation mark. There are 30 figures in all, broken into two series:

   • A–M: One mini Labubu for each letter A–M, plus ?. The secret Labubu for this series is Heart.
   • N–Z: One mini Labubu for each letter N–Z, plus &. The secret Labubu for this series is !.

   Labubu Plushes In addition to the popular Labubu keychain pendants, POP MART has released several large Labubu plushes. These usually stand about 30 cm (12 in) tall and come dressed in a unique outfit. Plushes are some of the rarest Labubus, and they typically sell out quickly due to high demand.

   • Flip With Me: Off-white Labubu wearing a blue-and-white striped shirt, jeans, black and white shoes, and black glasses
   • Fall In Wild: White Labubu wearing a white shirt, denim overalls, and orange pants. Also available as a keychain pendant
   • Time To Chill: Brown Labubu wearing a grey sweater and blue and tan overalls
   • Jump for Joy: Beige Labubu wearing a bomber jacket, cargo pants, and brown shoes
   • Dress Be Latte: White Labubu wearing a plush bucket hat, striped sweater, brown pants, and boots; accessorized with a scarf and cross-body bag.
   • Sitting Pumpkin: Brown Labubu sitting inside a pumpkin and wearing a skull barrette
   • Walk By Fortune: Limited release to celebrate the Chinese New Year; white Labubu wearing a gray sweater and red scarf
   • Best of Luck: Another Chinese New Year release; white Labubu wearing a red sweater and black pants
   • Catch Me If You Like Me: A Valentine’s edition of a Brown Labubu carrying a Tycoco plush; available in black and pink
   • Let’s Checkmate: Brown Labubu with a king’s crown and cape, carrying a bouquet of roses.
   • Let’s Checkmate (Pendant): Yellow Labubu with a queen’s crown, holding a pink plush heart with a blue ribbon
   • Oldskool Monsters Forever X Vans: Gray Labubu wearing a Vans hoodie, hat, cargo pants, and sneakers; comes with a skateboard
   • Be Fancy Now: Purple Labubu with a star on her face wears a purple-and-white hat and sweater with purple corduroy overalls
   • Wings of Fantasy: Labubu wearing a winged denim jumpsuit and purple sunglasses

   Mokoko Plushes Mokoko is a pink plush with a white stomach, heart-shaped nose, and long curly eyelashes. She’s usually styled in an ultra-feminine way. Mokoko is available in large plushes and keychain pendants.

   • Close to Sweet: Large plush or keychain pendant with a pale green bow and white daisy on her head
   • Fall Into Spring: Large plush or keychain pendant with a lacy dress and bonnet
   • The Blue Diamond: Keychain pendant size; pale blue dress with white collar and straw sunhat
   • Magic of Pumpkin: Halloween-themed keychain pendant with orange-and-black dress and hat
   • Twinkly Fairy Tale: Holiday-themed keychain pendant; she wears a red bow with a pearl, a red sweater with a white collar adorned with holly, and a tulle skirt
   • Rock the Universe: Large tie-dyed plush to accompany the Big Into Energy series

   Zimomo Plushes Zimomo plushes are some of the largest dolls in the Labubu line. Other than the size, they look almost identical to Labubus, except Zimomo plushes have a long, spiked tail.

   • I Found You: Large brown plush with brown eyes
   • Angel In Clouds: Large white plush with silver wings and toenails

   Additional figures and accessories In addition to the keychain pendants and larger plushes, there are a huge variety of specialty Labubus. There are vinyl figures (like the Lazy Yoga series), accessories like the reversible plush pendants, stickers, tumbler charms, fridge magnets, and more.

   • Demand is highest for the plush toys and keychain pendants, but even the accessories can be difficult to find in stock.

   Labubu was created by artist Kasing Lung in 2015. They’re part of his book trilogy The Monsters, where he also writes about Labubu’s friends, like Mokoko, Zimomo, and Tycoco. In 2019, Chinese retailer POP MART licensed the characters from The Monsters. They started producing the toys, and soon Labubu became a worldwide sensation.

   • Labubu has been spotted with celebrities like Rihanna, Cher, Dua Lipa, Simone Biles, and David Beckham.
   • Today, demand is high for these fuzzy little elves—and buying one often takes a little dedication, since they’re only in stock at limited times.
   • The popularity of Labubu has also led to a rise in counterfeits. Can you tell the difference between real and fake Labubus?

Where can you read The Monsters series?

   Unfortunately, it’s hard to come by. Lung’s books were originally printed in Taiwan individually in 2015, and in 2021 they were combined into a single novel and reprinted in English. However, the books are out of print now, so they’re hard to find—and when copies do go up for sale, they’re pretty expensive.

   • POP MART owns the rights to The Monsters now, so it will be up to them to decide whether to reprint the books in the future. In the meantime, some fans have launched a petition on change.org to get the books reprinted.
