Have one hand on the Ctrl+W buttons and press them at the same time as soon as you hear footsteps or the door open. When they leave press Ctrl+Shift+T to reopen the tab. You should keep one ear open so you can listen for footsteps. Or you can use your speakers but turn them to a really low volume only you can hear.
