How to Follow a URL on an Android

Open the app containing the URL you want to open (e.g., Messages, Facebook Messenger, or Gmail). Find the message or document with the URL and tap the link. This should take you directly to the site the URL is describing.

   Open Chrome. It’s the round red, green, yellow, and blue icon on your home screen. If you don’t see it there, you’ll find it in the app drawer.

   • A URL is a link that takes you to a website (e.g. https://www.wikihow.com). They be found anywhere, such as in advertisements, business cards, or official documents.

   Tap the address bar at the top of the screen. This opens your Android’s keyboard.

   Type the URL into the box. For example, to visit wikiHow, type www.wikihow.com.

   • You could also access wikiHow by typing https://www.wikihow.com or wikihow.com.

   Tap the enter key. The appearance of the key varies by device, but it may have a check mark or an arrow on it. You’ll typically find it at the bottom-right corner of the keyboard. This will open the website on your Android.

   Open the app that contains the URL. A URL is a link that takes you to a website (e.g. https://www.wikihow.com). The easiest way to open a URL is to click or tap a link in an app or website.

   Scroll to the URL. Text URLs usually appear in a different color than the rest of the text. They may also display a picture from the website and/or a headline that describes the site.

   Tap the link. In a few seconds, your default web browser (usually Google Chrome) will display the website.
