Easily send a picture in Teams with this helpful guide

Do you need to send an image in a Microsoft Teams chat, but you're not sure how? Thankfully, doing so is easy. In this article, we'll teach you how to paste pictures in Teams chats on your computer, Android, iPhone, or iPad.

Ways to Paste Pictures in Teams Chats

  • Copy the image on your computer, then paste it into the chat with Ctrl+V (Windows) or Cmd+V (Mac).
  • Copy the image on your phone, then paste it into the chat by long-pressing and choosing Paste.
  • Attach an image from your computer by clicking the media button, then choosing which photo(s) you want to send.
  • Attach an image from your phone by tapping + and selecting Media.

Pasting a Picture (Desktop)

  1. If the picture is on the web, simply right-click or control-click it and click Copy image (or something similar). If the picture is in your files, click it and press Ctrl+C (Windows) or Cmd+C (Mac).
    • If you don't have a copy of the picture yet, take a screenshot using your keyboard (PrtScrn on Windows or Cmd+ Shift+3 on Mac). When you take a screenshot, the image is automatically saved to your clipboard, so you can move on to the next step.
    • You can also use tools to snip just a portion of the screen by using the Snipping Tool on Windows or by pressing Cmd+ Shift+4 on Mac. Snipping a portion of the screen should automatically save it to your clipboard as well.
  2. Click into the chat and place your cursor in the text box.

  3. To do this, press Ctrl+V on Windows or Cmd+V on a Mac. The image will be pasted into a message.
    • If needed, type any text that you want to add to the message. If you add text to the message, the image will be tacked on at the bottom.
  4. Press Enter or Return to send the message with the image included.

  1. Navigate to the picture online or in your Photos app, then long-press the image. Tap on Copy, Copy image, Copy to clipboard, or something similar.
    • You can also attach photos from your Photos app as an attachment.
  2. Select the chat and tap to place your cursor in the text box.
  3. You should see a contextual menu pop up with some actions you can take.
  4. Each phone may have a slightly different menu, but you should see an option to paste the image you've copied.
    • Type any text that you want to add to the message. If you add text to the message, the image will be tacked on at the bottom.
  5. Tap Enter or Return on your keyboard, or tap the send icon in Teams, to send the message with the image included.

  1. If the image has already been saved on your computer, you can move to the next step.
    • To save an image from the internet, simply right-click it and choose Save image or a similar option.
  2. Open Teams to the chat you want to send a picture in, then click the media icon to the right of the message box. The icon looks like a photo.
    • You can also click the paperclip button to send images and files.[1]
  3. This will let you choose a picture saved on your computer.
    • You can also choose an image from OneDrive by clicking Attach cloud files.
  4. You may need to use the dialog box to navigate to where you've saved your images if Teams doesn't automatically open up the correct folder. If you want to send more than one image, press and hold Ctrl (Windows)/ Cmd (Mac) while clicking each image you want to send.
    • Type any text that you want to add to the message. If you add text to the message, the image will be tacked on at the bottom.

  1. If the image has already been saved on your phone, you can move to the next step.
    • To save an image from the internet, simply long-press it and choose Save image or a similar option.
  2. Open Teams to the chat you want to send a picture in, then tap the plus symbol directly to the left of the message box. A menu will expand.
  3. It has an icon that looks like a photo.
    • You can also tap Attach, which will allow you to attach an image or a file.[3]
  4. This will take you to your device's Photos app, where you can select the image you want to send.
  5. If you want to send more than one image, simply tap on it.
  6. This will take you to a screen where you can edit your images. Editing your images is optional. If you'd like to edit your images, do so now; otherwise, move to the next step.
  7. Tap the paper airplane icon in the bottom-right corner to send the images to your Teams chat. Otherwise, tap the paperclip icon to attach them to a message, then type your message if you'd prefer.[4]
