Curious about the many discoverable easter eggs in Phasmophobia? You’ve come to the right place. Easter eggs are fun little jokes, messages, or pop culture references that game developers will often scatter around their games—and Phasmophobia definitely has them. In this article, we’ll explain each of Phasmophobia’s must-find easter eggs, and explain how to solve any puzzles related to them as well. After all, you’ll be tracking them down in your own game soon enough!

Phasmophobia’s Most Intriguing Easter Eggs

  • Ghost in the Machine - A puzzle easter egg at Nell’s Diner that grants the “Ghost in the Machine” ID card and spawns a giant skeleton.
  • Point Hope - Another puzzle easter egg at the Point Hope lighthouse; this one grants the “Ferryman of the Drowned” ID card.
  • Bloody Mary - Looking into a mirror and using voice recognition to say “Bloody Mary” will actually increase ghostly activity in-game.
  • Friday the 13th - Standing at the end of the pier at Maple Lodge will cause Jason’s mask to bubble up from the lake.
  • Slender Man - At the Maple Lodge Campsite, there’s a chance of Slender Man spawning at the edge of the woods.

Ghost in the Machine

  1. The newer Nell’s Diner map has an easter egg that, when solved, will grant players the “Ghost in the Machine” ID card after leaving via the truck. You’ll also know that it’s solved, because afterward, there’ll be a gigantic skeleton over the diner! You can solve the easter egg puzzle on any difficulty—and here’s how to do it:[1]
    • Go to the Manager’s Office and shine a UV light on the reminder Post-it note. There’ll be three arrows: down, up, and right.
    • Find the code outside with three numbers, each corresponding to an arrow.
      • The number 4 is in the Dining Area, pointed to by a downward road sign.
      • The number 1 is under the neon road sign, pointed to by an upward arrow.
      • The number 5 is near the dumpster, pointed to by a graffiti arrow.
    • Enter the code (4, 1, 5) into the safe in the Manager’s Office.
    • Grab the debit card out of the safe and bring it to the ATM in the hallway.
    • Place the card in the ATM slot and pick up the dollar bill that you get.
    • Use the dollar bill to buy a soda from the Mr. Sprinkle vending machine to the left.
    • Pick up the coin that falls from the machine and place it into the Lair of the Unliving arcade machine (in the Break Room). You’ll get a skull from the machine, completing the easter egg puzzle!

Point Hope

  1. On the Point Hope map, there’s a special easter egg that’ll give players the “Ferryman of the Drowned” ID card (after leaving through the truck). Here’s how to solve, or trigger, the easter egg event! Note that you’ll need a UV light, but you can complete it on any difficulty:[2]
    • Throw three different balls from the pool table (in the Games Room) into any of the holes, in the order indicated by the paintings by the stairs.
      • The order goes: green ball, blue ball, and orange ball.
    • Unlock the lantern cabinet in the Lantern Room Bottom (you’ll need a cogwheel, which can be found in the Maintenance Room).
    • Insert the cogwheel into the cabinet; this will cause the lighthouse’s lantern to blink on and off.
    • Ring the large bell next to the entrance three times.
    • Head to the very top of the lighthouse and stand on the balcony, looking out towards the island with a cave entrance where the letters “UV” are visible.
    • Shine the UV light against the large lantern until its light becomes purple. Now, the puzzle is complete!

Bloody Mary

  1. This easter egg plays on the legend of Bloody Mary, and the idea that saying her name three times in front of a mirror could summon the ghost herself. Well, in Phasmophobia, that legend actually sort of works! Certain voice recognition phrases will affect ghost activity in the game, and “Bloody Mary” is one of them. If you say her name three times when looking into a mirror in-game, it’ll increase supernatural activity (or even trigger a ghost hunt).
    • Other voice phrases that Phasmophobia will recognize include “Give us a sign” and “Show us.”

Sunny Meadows

PDF download Download Article
  1. Before the Sunny Meadows Mental Institution map had actually been released, Phasmophobia developers hid a small reference to it on the Asylum map (which Sunny Meadows later replaced). First, there was a barcode on a Ghost model directing players to room 7; in that room, players could use UV light to find a message from a patient about finding a new home at “Sunny Meadows.”[3]
    • Later, developers confirmed that Sunny Meadows was, in fact, an upcoming rework of the Asylum map, which has since been released.
    • The full message read, “I have to leave / Somewhere new / I don’t belong here / I’ll go soon / To get better, I hope / I found a new home / Sunny Meadows / Sounds nice, a place to heal”.

Prison Puns

  1. Phasmophobia’s Prison map has a couple of cleverly hidden puns—and they can be easy to miss if you don’t keep an eye out! The first is located right at the map’s entrance, on a plaque above the door; it reads “N.E. More Penitentiary” (which you’d pronounce as “Anymore Penitentiary”). Then, there’s another pun in B Block, above the cells, where you’ll see the code “B-00” (which you can read as “BOO”).
    • It doesn’t seem like either easter egg references a specific movie or book; they’re just silly details for players to appreciate!

Burning Crucifix

  1. On the Sunny Meadows Mental Institution map, there’s a super creepy secret event revolving around a burning crucifix. To trigger it, make sure you’re playing the game in Custom difficulty and have at least six cursed possessions. Then, light the candles in Sunny Meadows’ Summoning Circle. For each candle lit, a crucifix in the room will turn upside down. When the last one is lit, a larger crucifix in the Chapel will catch flame![5]
    • There are hints for this easter egg on the Chapel walls, with the phrase “Six Becomes One” written several times in Latin and various runic alphabets.

The Blair Witch Project

  1. The Blair Witch Project is well-known as a found-footage horror film taking place in a creepy forest—a setting that isn’t too different from Phasmophobia’s Maple Lodge Campsite map. And, in honor of the film, there’s a little easter egg near the Campsite map’s fire pit. If you take a look at the fence, you can find a Blair Witch symbol made from sticks atop one of the fence poles![6]
    • In the movie, the symbol is supposed to mean that the Blair Witch is nearby—making it a fittingly eerie addition in Phasmophobia.

Friday the 13th

  1. Friday the 13th fans will enjoy this next easter egg, because it’s a reference to the movie’s antagonist, Jason. Here’s how to find it: while on the Maple Lodge Campsite map, go to the pier and stand at the very end, looking out at the lake. Not too long after you arrive, bubbles will start appearing on the water’s surface—along with Jason’s iconic hockey mask.[7]
    • It’s also fitting for the Friday the 13th reference to be located on the Maple Lodge Campsite map, since Jason commits his crimes around “Camp Crystal Lake” in the movie!

Slender Man

PDF download Download Article
  1. “Slender Man” is an internet legend that’s been around since 2012, and has taken on a life of its own with multiple video games centered around the creepy figure. And while Phasmophobia isn’t about Slender Man, developers couldn’t resist making a little reference to him. According to players who have managed to spot Slender, there’s a chance of him spawning at one of five different locations on the outskirts of the Campsite map.[8]
    • You can’t interact with Slender Man, and he doesn’t do anything—you can just spot him watching you from the woods.
    • Slender Man is an eerily tall, long-limbed humanoid with white skin, a blank face, and a black suit.
