Windows lets you pin frequently used apps to your taskbar for quick, easy access, but what about websites? Some apps can only be accessed through a web browser. Wouldn’t it be great to pin these websites to your taskbar? You could access them more quickly and improve your productivity. Luckily, you can easily do so using Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome. You can also do so using Mozilla Firefox, but there are a couple of extra steps. This wikiHow article teaches you how to pin a website to your Windows taskbar.
Steps
Using Google Chrome

Go to the website you want to pin. Enter the URL for the website you want to pin in the address bar at the top of Google Chrome.Advertisement

Click the icon with three dots ⋮. It’s in the upper-right corner. This displays the Chrome menu.

Click Cast, save, and share. It’s near the bottom of the menu. This displays a fly-out menu.

Click Create shortcut. It’s in the middle of the fly-out menu.

Enter a name for the shortcut (optional) and click Create. A default name for the shortcut will be given. If you want to enter a different name, you can. Then click Create. This will create a desktop shortcut to the website.

Drag the desktop shortcut to your taskbar. Locate the shortcut on your desktop. Click and drag it to the taskbar. This will pin the shortcut to the website in the taskbar.[1]
Using Microsoft Edge

Open Edge. It has an icon that resembles a blue and green wave. Click the Microsoft Edge icon in your Start menu or taskbar.

Go to the website you want to pin. Enter the URL for the website you want to pin in the address bar at the top of Edge.

Click the icon with three dots •••. It’s located in the upper-right corner. This displays the Edge menu.

Click More tools. It’s near the bottom of the menu. This displays another fly-out menu.

Click Pin to taskbar. This adds the website to your taskbar. It will be displayed as the website icon.[2]

Click Yes. You will see a notification in the lower-right corner asking permission to add the website to your taskbar. Click Yes to continue.
Using Firefox

Locate the Firefox executable location. Use the following steps to open the folder with the Firefox executable.
- Click the Windows Start menu.
- Type “Firefox.”
- Right-click Firefox.
- Click Open file location.

Right-click the Firefox executable and click Create shortcut. You will be asked if you want to add the shortcut to your desktop. Click Yes to continue.
- If you don’t see the “Create shortcut” option, click Show more options at the bottom of the menu.

Right-click the shortcut and click Properties. Locate the Firefox shortcut you just created on your desktop. Right-click it and click Properties to open the Properties window.

Paste the website you want to pin at the end of the “Target” text and click Apply. You’ll see the location of the Firefox.exe file in the ”Target” field. Copy the URL you want to pin and paste it after the text in the “Target” field. This sets the URL to open the website you pasted in this field.
- Be sure not to delete the text in the “Target” field. Simply paste the URL at the end of the text.

Drag and drop the shortcut into your taskbar. This pins the shortcut to your taskbar with the website you want to open.[3]
