Posting a GIF on X (formerly Twitter) can be done using the built-in GIF button during post creation. If you want to upload your own GIF saved on your device, you'll need to use the "photo" button instead. Here's how to post a GIF on Twitter (X) using your iPhone, iPad, Android, or computer.

Uploading GIFs on X

To post a GIF on X (Twitter), start a new post or reply. Select the GIF icon below the post draft, and then select a GIF from the gallery. If you're uploading a GIF from your device, click the photo icon and select the GIF from your gallery. Select Post to post your GIF.

    • You can download the X app for iOS from the App Store.
    • If you don't have an X account, you'll need to sign up for one.

    • If you want to reply to someone else's post with a GIF, navigate to the post and tap the speech bubble icon.

    • If you want to upload a GIF from your device's gallery, such as a GIF saved from Giphy or another website, tap the photo icon instead. Then, select the GIF from your gallery.[1]

    • When you select a GIF, it will automatically be added to the post.
  5. You can add text for your GIF for context or tag another user if needed.
