So Missingno. isn’t actually a real Pokémon. It’s a glitch from the original Pokémon Red and Blue games, or Red and Green if you’re talking about the Japanese versions. Basically, when the game bugs out and you encounter something that doesn’t really exist in the code, Missingno appears. The name actually stands for “Missing Number,” because it represents a placeholder for data that isn’t supposed to be there.

The only reason Missingno pops up is because when you surf along the coastline, the game doesn't know which Pokémon you should encounter, and sends out "Missingno.", which just stands for "Missing Number". While you can catch Missingno, doing so can cause your game file to be corrupted, so proceed with caution.

You catch it like any other Pokémon. The attack stat is so powerful it kills pretty much anything in a single hit, but the defense is abysmal. Hit it with normal effectiveness attacks while it sleeps, otherwise you run the risk of it or you dying. Use an ultra ball if you have any.
