All modern monitors now come with HDMI, along with DVI or SVGA or both. Some of them have even shed all other ports except HDMI. What this means is that other than the display resolution and other qualitative features, there is no difference between an HDTV and a monitor. Use the computer attached to a HDTV in any way you like, including OS installation, BIOS reconfiguration, hardware upgrades, etc.

It really depends on the manufacture of you're PC. Most PCs would have a female port, so the cable should be male.

There are a couple possible explanations. Are you using an HDMI cord to hook up your TV, or are you using component cables? If you're using component cables, are they hooked up in the right order, and are they securely plugged in? Have you downloaded the most current updates for your sound card drivers?

On your taskbar, there will be a small icon to the far right that looks like an orange speaker. Click on it, and open the sound manager. Don't forget to check your television settings and connections.

Press F11 to make Internet Explorer full-screen and remove the title bar. Press it again to restore.
