However, sometimes you might be followed by fake accounts, which won't do much for your engagement and could even cause problems for you and your followers. Don't worry though—we've put together a list of some of the biggest red flags you should keep an eye out for when you're trying to tell if an Instagram account is fake or not.

How do you spot a fake Instagram account?

Social media marketer Katelyn Rhoades says to look out for accounts with AI photos or usernames with long strings of numbers. Fake accounts often have a large number of followers, but very little engagement on their posts. Or, they may have 0 followers and 0 posts. They may leave generic comments on your posts.
