If you have a HomePatrol, it's occasionally necessary to know how to record transmissions. When you need to use this process, it's helpful to have this information readily available. This article can become your lifesaver for knowing this process.
Steps
-
1Plug in your device to external power. Your device needs to be plugged in to handle transmission recording. It won't let you record otherwise. Use the provided USB cord to attach it to your computer or a power brick powering it to a wall outlet.
-
Turn on the device. Hold down the power button on the device until the Uniden splash screen appears.Advertisement
-
Let the device start listening.
-
Tap the "Record" button from the bottom of your device when you are ready to begin recording.
-
Tap the OK button in the dialog box that asks if you want to begin recording.
- If you don't tap any of the buttons, no recording will be made.
- The device will record from the last audio transmission that was received, before you pressed the "Record" button.
-
Stop the recording when you are ready. Tap the "Record" button with a red dot when you are ready to stop recording.
- Realize that there is no Pause button to record select transmissions.
-
Tap the OK button when you are ready to save the transmission as a file on your device. However, this file is held as a recording on the SD card, found inside the battery case.
- Files are saved as the date in YYYY-MM-DD_hh:mm:ss format.
- Once you begin recording, you won't be able to hold on to some stations, nor will you be able to place temporary or permanent blocks on some channels that are received by the receiver. You must stop the device from recording to place blocks on these channels.
-
8Review your recording. You can get to your recordings via your Review Recordings from your Advanced Menu. Tap the Menu > Advanced Menu > (down arrow) > Replay Options > Review Recordings > (tap the recording).
- Realize that after playing the session back, you may end up missing "in progress" items, much later.

The device, once played, will also remove any "scanning" pauses that may have appeared between transmissions. Therefore, you won't be able to see what stations it scanned, to see if it is operating correctly. Thanks
