The 3-Month Rule for a crush dictates that you should wait about 90 days before deciding whether you and your crush (or your new significant other) are truly compatible. This rule exists because the first three months of a new crush, fling, or relationship are usually referred to as the "honeymoon period," wherein everything feels exciting and romantic, and you feel infatuated with your new (or potential) boo.

But, according to the 3-Month Rule, it's difficult to assess true compatibility while you're in this honeymoon phase. Instead, it's better to wait past the three-month mark and observe how consistent your crush is, how they handle stress, and what their genuine intentions are. So, while you might have chemistry with your crush, that doesn't always mean you're compatible!

For instance, maybe you met a crush on vacation, and you feel like they're your total soulmate. Maybe they are! But it's difficult to tell when things are still fresh, and you're still in that butterflies-in-your-stomach, spend-every-day-at-the-beach-together mode.
