Are you trying to find blocked messages on your iPhone? Unfortunately, once you block someone, texts from the blocked number are intercepted and deleted by Apple and/or your carrier. However, there are some potential workarounds: If you removed someone instead of blocking them, you might be able to see their messages, and your carrier logs might have some useful information if you did block someone. Keep reading to learn more.
Steps
Checking Filtered Messages
-
Open the Messages app. It's got a green icon with a white speech bubble on it. By default, it's on your first Home Screen.
- This method will only work if you removed someone as a contact instead of blocking them.
-
Tap the three-line icon in the upper-right corner. This will open a drop-down menu.
- If you haven't chosen to filter your messages, you won't be able to access the "Unknown Senders" inbox. To filter messages, open your Settings app and go to Apps > Messages, then toggle on Screen Unknown Senders.
-
Tap Unknown Senders. This will open up an inbox of texts from unknown numbers, including people you haven't added as contacts.
-
Scroll to find the contact you want to view texts from. If you removed someone as a contact, their texts may show up in this inbox. You can then look at the messages they sent you by tapping on their number in the unknown senders inbox.[2]
Checking Carrier Logs
-
Log in to your account on your carrier's website. Most phone carriers give you the option to view your phone records, but these records don't show the message someone sent you, only the time the message was sent. You likely will not be able to get a record of the messages from your carrier.
- If you need to see the messages, you can try contacting your carrier, but they likely won't be able to provide them.
- You may not even see messages from a blocked number in your phone records, since they don't technically reach your phone.
-
Go to the billing or usage page. The exact page your phone records are on depends on your carrier. They're usually found on a page titled "billing" or "usage."
-
Choose what type of usage you want to view in the record. If your carrier offers the option to view messages, make sure to select it.
-
Download your usage records. Once you choose what type of information you want to see in your carrier logs, you may need to download them before you can view and print them.
-
View your phone records, and print if desired. You can view your phone records on your computer and print them if needed. Check your carrier logs to see when a specific number sent you messages.[3]
- Remember that you may not be able to see messages from a blocked number in your carrier logs, since the text messages don't actually reach your device.
