Scorpios are one of the most passionate signs of the zodiac, but they're also hard to read. Maybe you're friends (or something more) or you've swapped numbers and now you're wondering where things stand. You might be asking yourself, "Should I text him first?" Although it totally depends on you and the guy, we'll give texting timelines for a number of situations so you never have to wonder again.

Make the first move if he asked you to.

Text him first since he's waiting for you to reach out. Did the Scorpio man give you his number and say something winning like, "Here's my number—text me"? If he did, take him up on it! After all, he already put himself out there by giving you his number. Now it's your turn to signal your interest.
- For a bolder initial text, send something like, "It's Maddie—you gave me your number last night. Are you free to meet up today?" or, "Hey, it's Jane from the club. How's it going?"

Thank him for the date if you two went out.

Send him this text to be polite and signal your interest. A thank you text sounds simple, but it does a few things: it makes it clear to your Scorpio guy that you enjoyed spending time with him and it opens the door for him to respond. Plus, with this friendly text you don't need to worry about appearing too eager.
- It's totally fine to keep your thank you text brief. A simple, "Yesterday was so much fun!" or, "I had such a great time last night. 😉" works.

Reach out first if you think Scorpio is unsure what to do.

Message him first so he has to make a choice and respond to you. If Scorpio seems like an obsessive, brooding type it's because he is! You might not hear from a Scorpio guy first because he's too busy worrying about what to say, how to say it, and how you'll respond. A text to show your curiosity can start an easy conversation. There's no pressure and you're subtly letting him know that you follow his accounts. For instance, text "OMG. Your dog is cuter than you if that's possible!"
- Make sure that you're only responding to the newest posts, so you don't come across as being a bit obsessive. Similarly, just message him about one post instead of several. This gives him a chance to respond.

Give him some space if you’re getting mixed vibes or he's rude.

Scorpios can be a bit moody or indecisive, so he may not know how he feels. If you couldn't tell whether or not he was interested when you last saw him or he was dismissive of you, he may not be worth pursuing. For instance, if he appeared bored or was even a little rude, you may be better off waiting or just moving on.
- You might feel stressed out if he seems to blow hot and cold. Ultimately, it's your call whether or not you want to connect with him.

See if your Scorpio guy puts in the effort or if you should move on. If you feel like you're always the one reaching out, it might mean that he's not as emotionally invested.
