If you keep getting texts from Facebook, you may be signed up to receive SMS notifications. This can be disabled by sending a text to Facebook's shortcode or by adjusting your notification settings in the mobile app or website. Here's how to stop Facebook texts on your iPhone or Android using your phone or computer.

Turning Off Facebook SMS Notifications

To stop Facebook SMS texts, text STOP to 32665. This is Facebook's short code for most major carriers. Alternatively, go into your Notification settings on the mobile app to disable text notifications.

   Open your text messages (SMS) app. You can send a text message to a special Facebook number to stop Facebook texts, even if you're not a Facebook member.

   Start a new text to the Facebook SMS number. This number varies depending on the country you're texting from. You can check for your specific country and carrier on the Facebook Help page. Below are a few of the most common:

   • USA, UK, Brazil, Mexico, Canada: 32665 (Some minor carriers vary)
   • Ireland: 51325

   Type STOP as the message. This should be the only text in the message.

   Send the text. You may be informed that the text could cost money. This is normal and is only letting you know that you'll be charged your normal texting rate for sending the message.

   Wait for the response. You'll get a text response from a different number indicating that texts from Facebook have been turned off. You should no longer receive any Facebook texts for your mobile number.

   Tap the ☰ button. You'll see this in the lower-right corner of the screen.

   • Make sure you're signed in with the Facebook account that you want to change the text message settings for.

   Scroll down and tap Settings & privacy. It's below Help & support.

   Tap Notifications. This is underneath the Preferences header.

   Tap an option. You can find all notifications underneath the What Notifications You Receive header.

   • A new page will open.

   "SMS". The switch will turn grey, and SMS will be disabled for that type of notification. Tap the back arrow to return to the previous page.

   • Repeat the previous two steps for all notifications underneath the What Notifications You Receive header.
   • SMS notifications will be disabled for all types of notifications.

   Remove your phone number completely if messages don't stop. If you're still receiving Facebook texts, you can completely remove your phone number. Do the following:

   • Tap ☰.
   • Tap Settings & privacy.
   • Tap Settings.
   • Tap Accounts Center.
   • Tap Personal details.
   • Tap Contact info and select your phone number.
   • Tap Delete number, and then Delete.
