Do you want to watch Netflix with someone over Discord? You'll need to prepare some apps before you can begin, and then you can quickly and easily share your screen with others in a voice channel. This wikiHow article teaches you how to stream Netflix on Discord.

Screen-Sharing Netflix on Discord

• To stream Netflix in Discord, disable hardware acceleration in your browser, and then restart your browser.
• Join a voice channel and click the monitor icon to open the Screen Share window.
• Select your browser window, set your stream settings, and click Go Live.

   Turn off your browser's Hardware Acceleration. The black screen usually happens when this feature is enabled. This can be found in your browser's system settings. It's recommended to use Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.

   • Google Chrome:
     • Click ⋮ in the top-right corner.
     • Click Settings.
     • Click System.
     • Toggle off Use graphics acceleration when available.
   • Mozilla Firefox:
     • Click ☰ in the top-right corner.
     • Click Settings.
     • Scroll down to Performance.
     • Uncheck Use recommended performance settings.
     • Uncheck Use hardware acceleration when available.

   Restart your browser. Close your browser fully and open it again. This ensures the new settings are applied properly.

   Log into https://www.netflix.com/ in your browser. You'll need an active Netflix subscription.

   Navigate to a movie or show you want to watch. Use the search bar at the top of the page or select a category to browse the selection.

   Open Discord. Click the app icon that looks like a controller with a face on it.

   • While you have to be on a computer to stream, others can watch your stream from any device, including phones and tablets!
   • If you don't already have the free program installed on your computer, download it now.
   • You can also use Discord in a browser at https://discord.com/.

   Join a voice channel in a server. You can use an existing server or create a new one for streaming movies and shows with your friends.

   • When you join a voice channel, you'll see new options appear above your username in the bottom-left corner.

   Click the monitor icon. This has a right-facing arrow within it.

   Click your browser from the list of applications. This will be in the Screen Share window.

   • You should see previews of all open applications on your computer. When you click it, you'll see your streaming options.
   • If you don't see it, make sure you're on the Applications tab.

   Select your stream settings. Choose the voice channel, resolution, and framerate. If you have Discord Nitro, you can choose to stream in a higher quality.

   • Make sure the box is checked for Also share application audio.

    Click Go Live. This is the blue button on the bottom of the window. Your stream will begin.

    • You can wait for other users to join your stream.

    On your web browser, click play on your video. Your video will begin streaming to your Discord server.

    • Click the monitor icon with the x inside of it to stop streaming. You can also leave the call.

Fixing Black Screen

   Disable Discord's hardware acceleration. Discord has a built-in hardware acceleration feature; this may be enabled automatically. Do the following:

   • Click the cog icon in the bottom-left corner.
   • Click the Advanced tab.
   • Toggle off Hardware Acceleration.
   • Close Discord fully (not minimize).
   • Open Discord again.

   Restart your computer. After disabling hardware acceleration in both your browser and Discord, you may need to restart your computer for your settings to be applied properly.
