The cool kids, imo, literally didn’t gaf. The popular kids at my hs were often mean to those they deemed inferior & I ignored them to the point I was told by one of them (a decade after graduation) that *they* considered *me* a snob.
My high schooler has been popular for years. As a freshman, even seniors knew his name. How? He’s known for being extremely smart without even trying but he’s also just himself. He rarely speaks but, when he does, it’s something unexpected that others find funny. He has a dark sense of humor but also says really random things like “skibidy Ohio rizz” ironically. Everyone calls him nonchalant but he really doesn’t care. He only claims about 5 people as his friends but at least half the school calls him a friend.
Just be yourself, dude. As someone old enough to be your parent, how others perceive you in high school doesn’t matter in the long run. What matters is genuine friendship(s). Be yourself & be kind to & genuinely accepting of others
