What makes you love someone & do you need a reason to love someone?
Thanks for your reply. So in fact love is not unconditional? There has to be "something" ?
I was confused as I find it hard to agree with society trying to convince me that I MUST love the daughter (abroad) whom I hardly know...who at 5 chose to live with her father and who now after 47 years of no contact, approached me for help as she had a disagreement with her stepmother. I listened, tried to understand and advise only to find out later that she fibbrdy. Still I hoped I could get to know and befriend her after all these years but she does not need me anymore and is now, that she has a new boyfriend, too busy to text, phone or reply to my weekly messages.
Her daughter and my granddaughter got married and I heard from someone else 10 days layer. She also does not share anything about herself, or answer any questions I ask about her schooldays etc.
To love someone I need to have "some aspect " I can connect to, not just the IDEA that one MUST love the offspring one has birthed no matter what
Strangely I can love my good friend, the stepmother who cared for her as a child. She never complains about the manipulative child she had to contend with. A true salt of the earth lady whom I admire and respect and am grateful to.
