All About Bearbricks

What are Bearbricks?
Bearbricks (stylized BE@RBRICK) are a line of collectible figures, a lot like Labubus or Sonny Angels. They’re modeled to look like Lego-style bears, each of them with a different design and sometimes even accessories that go with. Many are also modeled after pop culture characters or celebrities. They were developed by MediCom Toy, and first debuted way back in 2001, making them one of the longer-running toy lines available today.

Why are Bearbricks so expensive?
It’s the same answer for why any collectible toy line is expensive: scarcity. If a company only makes a few editions of a certain toy, like if Barbie only made 100 dolls for their newest toy line, then only 100 people are able to own them, and so people are willing to pay big bucks to get their hands on one. It’s also a case of FOMO, or fear of missing out. You don’t want to miss a limited-time drop, so you’re willing to pay more money to be one of the few people who can say you have one.

What’s the most expensive Bearbrick?
That’d be the Yue Minjun “Qiu Tu” 1000% Bearbrick, of which there was only a single one ever made, which sold for $157,000 dollars. It was a collab with Chinese artist Yue Minjun, whose signature style depicts people and characters laughing.

Where can you buy Bearbricks?
Bearbricks can be bought directly online at the Bearbrick website. They can also be bought at verified retail locations like Target or Walmart. Just be sure you’re buying from a verified seller, since there are lots of counterfeits out there!
