Fun Facts About Gachiakuta

  • It has a unique, on-the-nose name. When translated, gachiakuta (ガチアクタ) means "literal trash". This sarcastic phrase is used to reflect the story's themes, which revolve around taking things that are perceived as "literal trash" and making them into something incredible.
  • The series creator, Kei Urana, worked on Fire Force. Before Urana published his debut work, Gachiakuta, she worked under Atsushi Ohkubo, the creator of Soul Eater and Fire Force. When Ohkubo was working on Fire Force, Urana was his assistant. After the two worked together, Ohkubo soon recognized her as his successor.
  • Soul Eater is indirectly responsible for Gachiakuta. After reading the Soul Eater manga, Gachiakuta creator Kei Urana was so inspired that she went on a journey to become a manga assistant on Fire Force. After working on Fire Force, she went on to create Gachiakuta, and the rest is history.
  • Fans praise Gachiakuta for its representation of Black characters. In the manga, Black characters are depicted as strong, relevant, and respected, which many Black anime and manga fans have welcomed as a breath of fresh air. Black characters aren't often featured as main characters in manga and anime, so Black fans rightfully take pride in characters like Semia and Jabber, as well as their accurate, tasteful designs.
