Microsoft ended its support for Windows 10 as of October 14, 2025. This means that Microsoft will no longer provide security or feature updates or technical support for Windows 10.[1] However, Microsoft does offer extended lifecycle support for certain versions of Windows 10 LTSC. This wikiHow article teaches you how to download and install Windows LTSC without losing any data. We’ll also answer any questions you have about Windows 10 LTSC.

Where to Download Windows 10 LTSC

Since Microsoft has ended support for Windows 10, many are looking to Windows 10 LTSC, which has extended support until 2027 or 2032, depending on which version you have. You can download an ISO file for Windows 10 LTSC from Internet Archive if you can’t get one from Microsoft. You will need to purchase an activation key.

Downloading Windows 10 LTSC

  1. Typically, you would need to sign a corporate contract with Microsoft to get a license for Windows 10 LTSC. However, you may be able to purchase an activation key through a third-party supplier, such as Whokeys, or vip-scdkeys. You can also try using an activation script. However, if you are purchasing (or acquiring) a license key from somewhere other than Microsoft, or an official Microsoft partner, do so at your own risk.
  2. There are two versions of Windows 10 LTSC. Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC, which has support until January 12, 2027, and Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC, which has support until January 13, 2032. Microsoft no longer provides public links to evaluation versions of Windows 10 LTSC. However, you can download an ISO file from Internet Archive or Massgrave.dev.[2] [3]

Updating to Windows 10 LTSC

  1. Typically, Windows 10 LTSC requires a clean install and does not allow you to update from a standard version of Windows 10 (Home or Pro). Normally, this would erase your hard drive and not allow you to keep your data. However, there are ways you can trick your system into thinking it is updating from Windows 10 LTSC. This will allow you to keep your data and apps (even apps that typically don’t come with Windows 10 LTSC). This is NOT supported by Microsoft, and you could permanently damage your computer operating system. It is recommended that you back up any important data you want to keep before attempting to update to Windows 10 LTSC.
  2. You need to download the exact Windows 10 LTSC ISO file for your current Windows 10 language version. If you are in the United States, this is probably “en-US”. If you are using a different version, you can use the following steps to find your current LTSC ISO version:
    • Click the Windows Start menu.
    • Type CMD.
    • Right-click Command Prompt and click Run as Administrator.
    • Type dism /online /get-intl and press Enter.
    • Note the language version next to “System locale.”
  3. Use the steps mentioned above to download an ISO file for Windows 10 LTSC and acquire an activation key.
  4. To do so, press Windows Key + R to open Run. Type “Regedit” into Run and click Ok. Then click Yes to open the Registry Editor.
  5. Use the following steps to do so:
    • Expand the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE folder.
    • Expand the SOFTWARE folder.
    • Expand the Microsoft folder.
    • Expand the WindowsNT folder.
    • Expand the CurrentVersion folder.
  6. To do so, double-click the EditionID key. Change the Value Data field to “EnterpriseS” if you are updating to Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC, or “IoTEnterpiseS” if you are updating to WIndows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC. Then click Ok.
  7. To do so, double-click the ProductName key. Change the Value Data field to “Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC” or “Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC.” Then click Ok.
  8. To do so, double-click the ReleaseId key. Change the Value Data field to “21H2” and click Ok.
  9. To do so, double-click the DisplayVersion key and change the Value Data field to “21H2” and click Ok.
  10. To do so, double-click the CurrentBuild key and change the Value Data field to “19044” and click Ok.
  11. To do so, double-click the CurrentBuildNumber key and change the Value Data field to “19044” and click Ok.
  12. To do so, right-click the Windows 10 LTST ISO file you downloaded and click Mount.
  13. This will launch the Windows 10 LTSC update wizard.
  14. During this process, the installer will pull information from your computer to make sure it is ready to install. This may take a while. Be patient. Once it goes through that process, you will be prompted to install Windows 10 LTSC. Click Install to continue.
  15. Activate Windows 10 LTSC. To do so, click the Windows Start menu and then click the Settings/Gear icon. There should be a link at the bottom of the Settings menu telling you Windows is not activated. Click that link and enter your activation key to activate Windows.
    • You can verify that you are running Windows 10 LTSC, but clicking System followed by About in the Settings menu. It should say “Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC” next to “Edition.”
