Do you have a yellow account alert at the top of your Steam page? Don't worry–this usually indicates an unread notification or removed content. If the notification doesn't go away, you'll just need to log into Steam from a web browser to clear it up. Here's what "You have an account alert" means on Steam and how to get rid of it.

If you see "You have an account alert" at the top of the Steam client, you likely have an unread notification that is being blocked on your desktop client. To remove it, log in to Steam in a web browser and navigate to your Support Messages. Open the message(s), and then restart Steam.

If you see "You have an account alert" somewhere on your Steam client, it can be due to unread notifications, expired game keys, cancelled/failed subscriptions, or suspicious account behavior. Specific cases include having a beta key removed from your account by the developer, failing to complete a transaction due to insufficient funds or an unstable internet connection, and/or being flagged by other Steam members through your account or comments.
- If the alert is in yellow, this most likely indicates a removed product. If the alert is in another color, your account may have been flagged for violating guidelines.
- If the account alert doesn't go away after clicking it, see the next section to troubleshoot it.

Check your support messages on the Steam website. If clicking the account alert gives no information or removes the yellow notification, you can try checking your inbox directly from the website. Do the following:
- Go to store.steampowered.com/supportmessages/ in a web browser.
- Log in with your Steam account
- Select the account alert.
- Restart your Steam desktop client, or log in and out again.
In some cases, the window for the alert appeared behind the main window. Drag the main window out of the way, or minimize it. If you have multiple desktops active, check each desktop as well.

Check the Steam Subscriber agreement. Steam recently updated its Subscriber agreement, and all users were required to accept the terms. If it doesn't load properly on your end, do the following:

- Click sign in in the top-right corner and log in with your account.
- Scroll all the way to the bottom of the page.

Restart the Steam client. If the notification is still marked as "unread" on your client, fully close Steam and open it again.
- Depending on your settings, Steam may run in the background even if you close the window. To make sure it is fully closed, right-click the taskbar and select Task Manager. Select Steam, and then click End task at the top.

Contact Steam. If you are still having issues with account alert messages or if you have an alert relating to a restriction on your account, you'll need to contact Steam support via their ticketing system. This can be done in the Steam client or in a web browser.
- Open Steam or go to help.steampowered.com/en/ in a web browser.
  - If you're on the Steam client, click the Help tab at the top and select Steam Support.
- Select a category for your issue.
- Select an issue related to the category.
- Enter details about your request.
- Attach any files if necessary (such as a screenshot).
- Click Send.
  - Steam will contact you through the email used for your Steam account.
