X, formerly known as Twitter, has a true black dark theme called "Lights Out" mode. This wikiHow will help you to enable the “Lights Out” mode on X for Android.

  1. The icon looks like a white X on a black background.
  2. This opens the menu panel. You can also open it by swiping from the left side of the home tab.

  3. It's a half moon with a star, found at the bottom right corner of the menu panel. The dark mode option will appear once you tap it.
  4. Choose the On option under the “Dark mode” title.
  5. Go to the “Dark theme” title and choose the Lights out option. If your device theme is already set to dark, you can also choose the use device settings option.
  6. Once you enable Lights out, X will switch the interface to true dark instead of the blueish dark theme you had before. If you want to go back to the dim dark theme, choose dim from the dark theme option.

  1.  It’s the black icon with a white X. Make sure that your app is up-to-date.
  2. It's located at the top-left corner of the app. The menu tab will show up.
  3. Select Settings and privacy from the menu tab.
  4. It's right below the “Notifications” option.
  5. It's the second option.
  6. You'll find it under the display title.
  7. Choose the On option under the dark mode title. Then move to the dark theme section.
    • If your device theme is already set to dark, you can also choose the “Use device settings” option.
  8. Under Dark theme, you'll see two options, “Dim” and “Lights out”. Select “Lights out.”
  9. Once you choose lights out, X's background will switch to true black. Enjoy Lights Out mode.
    • If you want to go back to the dim dark theme, choose “Dim” from the dark theme settings.
