Today, Tuesday, August 26, 2025, pop icon Taylor Swift announced via Instagram that she’s engaged to NFL star Travis Kelce! ❤️💍🥂🍾✨The post is captioned, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨” and features 5 photos of Swift and Kelce showing their affection for one another in a romantic rose garden.
The couple has been together for two years, and Kelce popped the question with a gorgeous old-mine brilliant-cut diamond ring he designed with Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry in New York City, according to ABC. A jewelry expert estimates that the ring is about 8 carats and costs $550,000, according to Fortune.
The news comes just days after Swift announced the release of her 12th album Life of a Showgirl (more details on that here) and near the end of the NFL pre-season, with Kelce playing tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs. These two sure have a lot to celebrate!

I couldn’t be happier for her. I’ve followed her almost my whole life, I know how much she’s longed for this since her earliest albums, and seeing her finally fulfill that dream made me cry as if she were my own older sister.
There has always been pressure on women in their twenties: “your time is running out”, or “forget your career and focus on finding a good husband.” And here we have the most powerful woman in the world getting engaged at 35.

I personally love that she sort of referenced us (the fandom) in the caption, when she said, “your gym teacher” and “your English teacher," because I just love how much she involves us. And I feel like she wants to share it. She's excited, and she interacts with us in a way that I don't think a lot of celebrities (especially not at her level) are able to do authentically. So I loved the caption.
I love her because of her music and what that's added to my life. And so much of her music has showcased her wanting a happily ever after, her wanting romance, and that being something that, despite all the jumps that her career has made and all the things that she's achieved, was something that she clearly hadn't really nailed until seemingly now. And so in that way, I was so happy for her that after she's added so much to everybody else's lives, and the impact she's had on millions, she has been able to get the one thing at the top of her list that she has really wanted.
