Does being a therian affect your life?
People are always telling me "Being a therian is bad for your mental health! Get a job, start a real life." And i'm wondering if it actually is.

Being a therian in ordinary circumstances shouldn't cause any negative impacts on your life. It is literally just identifying as an animal. In fact, it can build a sense of community, make you feel more at home in your body, and at peace with who you are. It can expand who you are and how you go through life, and there's a community of folks that you can connect with.
If you are experiencing negative side effects, that probably isn't your therianthropy, but it may be an underlying condition or mental health condition. It is not bad to identify as an animal as long as you understand the healthy limit of identity.

When I was a kid, being a therian was just a fun thing. Everyone knew, "Oh yeah, Nora is a lion." Everyone treated me that way, and that always made me happy. There were some challenges, though. I experienced species dysphoria because I felt, "I am not in the right body." I remember when I was a kid, I would always think, my teeth are so dull, they are not sharp enough. My fingers are just so long, and they do not work. I would wear gloves because I did not like how human fingers looked. They just felt wrong to me.
As time went on, I learned to accept myself, especially after talking with the community. Eventually, I became perfectly okay with having a human body because I get to help lions in the wild and talk to other people. Sometimes I still deal with the occasional bit of species dysphoria. But in general, I have had a really great time being both human and lion.
I've found great friends who support me, too. My friends will sometimes play with me as if I am a cat, and it is really fun. They will dangle things in front of me, which I love. I know they care about me a lot. If you find people who accept you for being a therian, it makes your bonds with them even stronger.
I also love being a lion because I can be outside and just feel so at home. Having a dual perspective also helps me really empathize with animals as well. Pretty much every cat I have ever met has liked me!

Therianthropy is an identity; it's part of you. So, just like an identity, it’ll have an effect on your life. Being a therian can really affect fitting in because therians are commonly picked on. It's common for therians to feel like outcasts, even in environments where people accept you, because therianthropy does make you feel disconnected from humanity sometimes. Your behavior could possibly be seen as “odd” to others.
However, therianthropy shouldn’t negatively affect your life. Bullying is an outside factor, and that’s just a result of people being cruel and judgmental. But if your therianthropy is causing depression, stress, hallucinations, or anything negative, that’s not from your therianthropy. It’s likely you are struggling with something mentally, such as depression, anxiety, or other mental issues, and it is projecting onto your therian identity. It is not at all healthy, and it’s important to get professional help! However, it’s not the fault of therianthropy.

Oh I'm sorry. I'm realizing that was hurtful. (I'm the stupidest person alive btw) I'm really trying to think up an explanation but I can't... please forgive me. One thousand apologies.
