What Do My Results Say About Me?
Wuthering Heights is full of many complex characters—most of whom aren't entirely good or evil, but a strange blend of vices and virtues. In this quiz, we'll tell you which character you're most like, as well as what your results mean:
Catherine Earnshaw: 🎶 Heathcliff, it's me, it's Cathy, I've come home! I'm so cold! Let me in your window! 🎶 You're a complicated figure, Cath. You're deeply passionate, fierce, and beastly (complimentary), and you get the attention of everyone around you. Your drive and ambition are unparalleled...but sometimes, your gift for wanting things is also something of a curse and can leave you unsure of where to dedicate your energies. Some might say you don't consider the feelings of the people around you as often as you should, but in your defense, if you don't fight for what you want in life, who will?
Heathcliff: Like the novel's resident anti-hero, you're a complicated soul. At once dark and brooding (and possibly prone to fits of rage), you're also extremely passionate and poetic, deep down. (We don't know Heathcliff's birthday, but he has to be a Scorpio, right?) You've led a hard life, and you've probably been conditioned to believe that you don't deserve what you want. That belief can make you feel bitter and resentful towards the people around you, but we know that buried deep underneath the armor you wear on the outside is a sensitive child's heart, just waiting to be brought to the surface, waiting to be loved.
Edgar Linton: Like Edgar, you're well-mannered, sophisticated, and respectful. You consider it your duty to be a good neighbor to everyone you encounter. Sure, you can be a little judgmental toward those you consider "beneath" you, and you probably put more stock in your social standing than you ought to, but with your own family and friends, you're incredibly loving, devoted, and loyal. You would do anything to protect them...sometimes to the point of being a little controlling (hey, you can't help it if you know best!).
Nelly Dean: Like Nelly, you're careful, attentive, and resourceful, and you find yourself in the role of caretaker much of the time. You're also an excellent storyteller: once you dive into a tale, you've got the people around you hooked on your every word. True, you sometimes get more involved in people's lives than you should, and you've probably been dubbed a "busybody" once or twice, but we can't blame you for caring! (OK, it's probably like, 75% genuine care, and 25% a love of getting that piping-hot tea.)
Cathy Linton: You're independent and hopeful—basically, you're like if the proverbial light at the end of a tunnel took human form. Even though life may be hard, you know what you deserve and aren't afraid to go after it, just like Catherine and Edgar's daughter Cathy. While others might respond to the difficulties of life and dismiss them as "the way things are," you know that you have to be the change you want to see in the world. You have a unique ability to imagine a new, better world where others see only rubble and decay, and you go after it with all you've got.
Hareton Earnshaw: Like Cathy's nephew Hareton, you're kind and empathetic, and you work hard to overcome your vices. True, you have an aggressive streak, but you've endured a lot of hardships, so it's sort of understandable. Just go easy on yourself as you course-correct: Rome wasn't built in a day, and it definitely wasn't a one-person job. You're proof that with a little self-compassion and the help of caring friends, you can turn your life around completely. You deserve whatever love and luck come your way, so grab onto it and don't let go!
