What's the best starter Pokemon?
My personal favorite is Mudkip from Gen 3. Mudkip is just really, really cute!

I would say competitively, if you want to play against other people, your best option is Charmander, as Charizard is such a strong final evolution Pokémon. Torchic and Froakie are also great options, as Blaziken and Greninja (their evolutions) are extremely strong too.
Recommendations for fun 3-player video co-op couch games?
You can't go wrong with the big three: Super Smash Bros, Mario Kart, and Mario Party. I would also say Sonic Cross Worlds is great for three people. It's basically Sonic Mario Kart (and it's giving Mario Kart a run for its money)!
