Which Five Nights at Freddy’s game is your favorite?
No, however, I did hear the creator was inspired by some real-life events and his experiences. If it were based on a true story, it would make it even scarier, and I think the whole world would have known about this.

No, Five Nights at Freddy’s isn’t based on a true story. However, some fans have speculated that the game’s creator, Scott Cawthon, may have drawn loose inspiration from a real-life tragic event that occurred at Chuck E. Cheese. In December of 1993, a former employee went to the Chuck E. Cheese where he worked and shot several employees, killing 4 and wounding 1 more. The events in FNaF aren’t the same, but YouTube creator MatPat of The Game Theorists channel pointed out that FNaF does take place in 1993, just like the real-life tragedy.

I think its not based of true stories nor event(s), but it could be based of imaginations and dreams as well. After all, I'm pretty sure Scott Cawthon had a nightmare about Bonnie, and that's how the design and more were created!
