Quickly disable the post-saving feature on Instagram using iOS or Android

Do you want to turn off Instagram's save feature for posted photos? When you upload a photo, video, or story, Instagram automatically saves it to your Camera Roll or Gallery. Luckily, you can disable this feature in a few simple steps. This wikiHow will show you how to stop Instagram from saving posts to your Camera Roll on your iPhone, iPad, or Android device.

  1. Open the Instagram app.
  2. Tap your profile picture.
  3. Tap in the top-right corner.
  4. Tap Archiving and downloading.
  5. Toggle off Save original photos.

  1. The app looks like a camera icon over a multicolored background. You'll need an account to use Instagram.[1]
    • Instagram is available for iOS in the App Store and for Android in the Google Play Store.
    • If you aren't already logged in, enter your login details and tap Sign in to do so now.
  2. You can find this in the bottom-right corner.

  3. This will be at the top-right corner. A pop-up menu will open.
  4. This will be below the Your app and media header.[2]
    • If you don't see this option, use the next method instead.
  5. If Instagram is still saving photos to your Camera Roll after disabling the options in the settings, you can change your Photos permission. This will work on iOS devices only. Do the following:
    • Open Settings.
    • Scroll down and tap Instagram.
    • Tap Photos.
    • Tap Selected Photos.
    • When you want to upload a photo on Instagram, you'll be asked to select the photos to which the app has access. Instagram should no longer have permission to save new photos to your device.
