What are some rare Webkinz?

Cheeky Dog The Cheeky Dog was one of the first Webkinz plushies ever released back in 2005, and it was the first pet to be retired (alongside Cheeky Cat) in 2006. Since it was only produced for about 1 year, that makes it quite the rare Webkinz! This cutie has light brown fur with dark patches and the signature cheeky smile that no one can resist.[1]
    • Released: May 2005
    • Retired? Yes, in May 2006
    • Virtual only? No
    • Price: $200+
    • Fun fact: Cheeky Dog may be one of the most expensive Webkinz ever sold. Back in 2007, one sold for $1,799 on eBay![2] And more recently, in February 2026, one sold for $675 on eBay!

Cheeky Cat Like the Cheeky Dog, the Cheeky Cat was released when Webkinz first got started in 2005. It was also retired 1 year later in 2006, so not many people got their hands on this OG plushie! Cheeky Cat’s rarity, plus its red curly fur and silly smile, make it very sought after.[3]
    • Released: May 2005
    • Retired? Yes, in May 2006

What makes a Webkinz valuable?

PDF download Download Article
  1. 1
Its rarity In general, Webkinz that had a limited release or weren’t in production that long are more expensive. This includes retired pets, which are pets Ganz no longer produces, and promo pets, which are part of exclusive events and contests. A lot of people tend to want rare Webkinz, too, which just drives up the price even more.
  2. 2
If it includes tags and codes A plush Webkinz that has its original tags and an unused code (which allows you to activate it in the online game) can make its price skyrocket, whether it's a common or rare pet! Lots of people want to collect the plush toys and add Webkinz to their online world, so they’re willing to pay a lot.
    • For instance, on eBay, a plush only Love Puppy can go for $70, while a plush pup with codes can go for over $200!
  3. 3
If it’s part of the Signature line When Signature Webkinz pets were first released, they already came at a higher price point due to their higher quality. But when the signature line was discontinued around 2013, Signature pets seemed to get more popular and only became more expensive! They’re still some of the most expensive Webkinz you’ll find online.
    • For example, the Signature Koala typically sells for around $45 on eBay, while the regular Koala Webkinz usually sells for around $15.
  4. 4
Its popularity Some types of Webkinz pets seem to be more popular than others, which tends to make them more expensive. For example, dogs, wolves, foxes, pegasi, and googles tend to be some of the most popular Webkinz. Just check out this top 10 most adopted pets on the Webkinz website—the majority of the pets are dogs!
  5. 5
Its condition Like most collectable items, the condition a Webkinz is in can greatly influence its worth. In general, Webkinz plushies in pristine or excellent condition sell more than very used plushies. However, if the plush is very rare, people are still usually willing to spend a lot even if it’s not in the best condition.
